Well, I went ahead and did it. Last night, I re-enlisted for another 3 years in the United States Navy. It was a beautiful night out here in the Persian Gulf. Immediately following my re-enlistment, a small group of us cigar smokers went up topside to enjoy a smoke on such a nice night. The re-enlisting officer was kind enough to hand me an ISOM Monte #2 torp that just made the night sooo much better. Calm seas, a star-lit night, and a Monte #2....nights just don't get much better.

Congrats tar! Why stop now right? You know I wish you the best in your career and before you know it, it'll be all over.

Nice touch on the Monte. What a brother of the leaf you have there in your midst. May all your nights be light winds and calm seas Jason.

Congrats, Tar. I couldn't wait for my first enlistment to be up so I could get the hell out. I'm glad there are people like you who can make a career out of it.

Good deal, Tarheel !!!

I too couldn't wait for my my first to be up ... so I could get back into civilian life, but it's good folks like you that keep watch over our country! You won't regret it, and the pension and benefits will come in mighty handy on top of the job you get when you do get out ...

BTW ... this belongs on the 'Re-Inlistment Board' ... LOL!

Only 3 years?!?! I guess you weren't offered a bonus. Congrats! You are truly career Navy now. Nice cigar to have by the way. Very appropriate!

My cousin flew Navy Orions and chased subs in the 80s and 90s. He made the family very proud. I wanted to follow in his footsteps but alas, they require perfect vision. Then they said I could be "Goose" but I told them "No way, it's Maverick or nothin'! On to civilian aviation."

Hope you make it to retirement Tar. I'm sure you know you'll be glad you did.

Way to go, I made a mistake when I walked away from USN as a Lieutenant--should have stayed, but we have choices and some are not the best, although, at the time they seem to be.

Tell your re-enlistment officer I will come back for a Monte or two....LOL
