first bid/purchase here in a long time

Finally saw something to buy here for a decent price!

Xikar HC Series Maduro Robusto 20 of them for $13 so even with shipping that's under a buck a stick. I had one of these in San Francisco a while back and it was pretty good. Not earth-shattering, but certainly worth more than I paid. Looked around at prices before bidding (what a concept!) as saw the bundles of 20 going for as low as $50 "on sale" at various spots, so obviously some manufacturer clearing out of stock going on.

But hey I'm counting this as a C-Bid victory - a good cigar at a price that was reasonable and much cheaper than retail. Perhaps not one of the amazing high-end deals of old, but its the first time in about 8 months I even bothered to bid.

Also, since already paying for shipping for the Xikar's, I went and pulled the trigger on a fiver of MOW Dark Horses for $10. Have never had one of these but do like other MOW cigars and the reviews seem positive so why not!

I'm Back! :)

They are not bad cigars @ all, I burned through a box of the boxed pressed version. Actually wish I had bought more

Well, I bid again because of a decent price on a decent cigar but if posting about it makes your day just a little bit less pleasant, than that is just a bonus!

I liked the Dark Horse some........kinda AJs version of a Papas Fritas......but they were always selling for about the same price as the MOWPAs, which is a much better cigar imho, especially when well rested. And, the Ruination could often be had at close to the same price.........and given that the Dark Horse is made from Ruination scraps..........well.....

But heck, at $2 each, it's a cheap " try it" fiver....

I never understood the concept of resting sub $2 cigars.

I've accidentally rested some AJ blends for a couple years, they don't taste any better to me after that amount of time than they do fresh.

I do think most of them are worth two bucks though:)

Never had the xikar ones though, maybe if I can get a similar deal one of these days I'll try some.

Kind of a nasty comment from someone who loves to punch the Rat Button. Snitches are low creatures but a snitch who's also a smartass? Shame on you

The Ruination and MOWPA do well with an extended nap imo.
The majority of AJ blends need at least some rest, as fresh they tend to be a bit rough.........but some people like them that way.
Then again, I haven't purchased any AJ stuff in a loooong time, so everything I've said may well be BS as far as the present state of affairs with AJ blends.

Not a fan of AJ's stuff including the MOW PA. There are too many better cigars out there for the same price or less. But then, we all do have different likes and dislikes.

the Box Pressed version is Maduro2 and is by AJ Fernandez. The generic round bundled version ain't nearly as good.

Are the current MoW cigars even AJ blends anymore? I thought someone else was blending those now?
