100% agree. About the only thing a die hard Sox fan could say is it might be unreasonable to expect a player his size who does not hit with power to the opposite field (from a baseball writer/radio show guy searching for a knock on this uber talent) to remain this productive well into his 30's. |

I'm thinking the Dodgers are hoping to get 7-8 years of prime production out of Betts, with a few championships sprinkled in...so the last 4-5 years, he'll be a secondary player to younger more productive talents |

young core of All Star caliber players with a few MVP's sprinkled in...a boatload of young pitching talent (Buehler, Urias, May, Gonsolin, Graterol, Gonzalez)
Blue might put together a couple more championship runs
don't really need Price, and he never was a part of the team |

very popular sports talk radio show here has spent the drive time afternoon talking World Series. One good take, the nerds lost, thankfully. Snell was coming out at that point even if he had a perfect game going because of the "3rd time through the lineup" mantra. Sometimes ya gotta just believe your baseball savvy eyes! The guy was cruising and had only thrown 70 some pitches.
But by far the funnier focus of the day was not wondering if Manfred was hammered, but wondering how smashed he was during the post game awards ceremony. What they played repeatedly was hysterical. Ya gotta listen to him say "Dodgerers"... And then they followed with Namath's infamous kiss interview, speaking of hammered. |
44. Author: delta1 | Date: Wed, 10/28/2020, 8:23PM EST
not sure if Manfred started drunk, but after he was introduced and was greeted by a loud and long chorus of boos from the fans in the stands, he was visibly shocked, maybe even emotionally scarred...still he managed to carry on....until later ...
wonder if he grabbed a few swigs or took a chill pill before the MVP awards ceremony.... there his speech was clearly labored, much slower and it seemed as if he was concentrating on e ver y sin gle syl la ble... |

and what was up with a covid test result DURING the game?
|
46. Author: delta1 | Date: Thu, 10/29/2020, 5:20PM EST
apparently the results from tests the players took the day before came back negative for everybody, but inconclusive for Turner, so he had to re-test early on the day of the game...that result came back positive during the game...
health experts said the appropriate protocol would've been to suspend the game and contact trace those Dodgers players and staff who had close contacts with Turner and isolate them until they could be tested with negative results... it likely would've been more than a handfull of players, including many in the game, essentially making it impossible to complete the game...wouldn't that have been an historic and courageous decision???
if MLB did that, they would've been lauded for protecting the health of all concerned...now they are being criticized for doing the risky expedient thing
Turner may have hurt his free agency by insisting on participating in the post game celebration, knowingly exposing family, media and children on the field |
