Room 101 Muzzle Loader Gordo 6 x 60, I’m in the mood for a thick ring.
Unblemished Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Big veins, visible seems. Stick had a faint marshmallow scent and cold draw had a slight cherry flavor. Using double guillitine to slice off the smallest amount possible, looks like a double cap that’s well done. Stick is consistently firm w/a small amount of give, no soft or hard spots. Kickoff was cayenne pepper and…grapefruit. Hey, the grapefruit is the strongest breakout so, crazy or not, I’m calling it. At 1” the pepper is long gone, grapefruit is almost all gone. The tobacco at the cap end is mostly sweet w/a touch of savory salt, tastes good on the tongue. First third had a little ashy mini-transition and then a leather note with orange behind it and scanty cayenne. No stronger than medium flavor and body but the cap end tobacco in my mouth is delicious. I wish the smoke reflected this deliciousness. At second transition a 2” ash dropped. Perfectly centered cherry pyramid. Tidy burn line got a bit of scallop in second third. Wood, leather, whisper of cayenne and maybe red berries but I’m searching hard. Reminding me a bit of Pilsner beer on retro, if memory serves. Orange is long gone. Third transition getting that MSA salty mineral molasses taste, body suddenly increased but no flavors breaking out. Retro has strong peppery burn but no flavors break out. Burn line corrected but it was never “bad”, just scalloped. Well into final third herbal and toasty in small amounts. smoke time about 90 minutes.

Dude! You know you just opened yourself up for some azzhattery comments! I won’t make any snide remarks (…at least not today…) but this immediately reminded me of a comment my nephew made a few years ago when we were talking about RG preference. I told him mine was between 42 and 50 then he said, “I like big things in my mouth every so often” - I nearly gagged (…no pun intended…) and gave him the “Do you know what you f#@king just said?” look. He immediately caught on and we had a big laugh.

82005 AJ Fernandez Dias de Gloria.

I dont think I've ever had an AJF that I liked much while young. But here we go. Open draw, cold draw hay/straw. First light very AJ. Spicy like a habanero. I was expecting a dry woody astringent habano by appearance and stuff. Burn is very slow despite the open draw. Lots of smoke. After the first or second ash drop some of those traditional habano notes come forward. Wood mostly but also lumber. There's stuff in the background telling me what this cigar could be in like 12mo, there's hints of cream and sweet nuts, a little cinnamon in the AJ pepper, but I'm struggling to find enjoyment by the halfway point. I think this would be good with some rest, as is the way of AJF. As is, it's just not bad.

I smoked these over a five day period this past week. All three had nice yellow cello, including the 858 Maduro. There was nothing not to like about the three AF's. Many thanks to the #1382 Azz Hat.

He must of had a couple of pours, his numbering thing went off the rails.

Sorry, jeebling, I just seen this. I'm not very organized when it comes to keeping tasting notes but I'll try to get my thoughts together on CH FK stuff I've had and shoot you a pm later.

I know, right? Misnomer fo’ sure. When I sparked up my first one, I was expecting a head-spinning experience despite a full meal beforehand but instead got a very enjoyable smoke. Part of the reason why I’mma big fan of the brand (…that and the fact that the owner, Johnny P. is also a Packers fan. Go Pack Go!…).

82018 Arganese Nicaraguan Habano with thanks to jeebling.

Never had this brand, know nothing about them. It's a long box pressed Churchill. First light is pleasant but the draw is tight. Hopefully that opens up as the box press relaxes. Little pepper on retro, mild sweet notes otherwise. Little woody but not in a bad way. Needs constant puffing to stay lit. And it went out at 1/4" despite constant puffing. Can feel the heat 2" down from the foot. This things tunneling hard. Cut the bottom off, purged, relit. Consecutive hard draws to get it to smoke and the wrapper is not burning with the filler at all. This is one of those asbestos binder cigars. Cut, purged, relit. I've chopped about 3" off the foot now. Binder/wrapper are finally burning with the filler. Draw is still very tight. Flavors are pleasant but nothing special. Little sweet wood, texture is a bit dry but tolerable. I'm already halfway since I had to whittle down so much of it. Just smoked through the tight spot, draw opened up and flavor intensity followed. But not flavor quality. Lots of work for little reward. I did not like this one. Jeebs sent two, I think the other will go to my father in law.

I had a somewhat similar experience with the burn but not as bad as that. And the flavor profile left me thinking I missed out on something. I’m hoping a couple months in the box might help the rest of them.

82020 Avo Syncro Nicaragua with thanks to jeebling. Have only had one avo I thought was bad, usually decent to good.

First light, mild dry earth and spice. Lil astringent. I spose should call it a floral note but it reminds me of piss biscuits, which is what flower smells remind me of anyway. Draw is perfect, ash firm, burn straight.

Couple ash drops in, floral is gone. Rich earthy notes with pepper on retro. Butter and cedar playing together too.

Overall decent to good. Nothing special but no detractors. I have more of these I bought myself previously. They make for great yard gars.

82024: La Aurora Preferidos Emerald

First light yup, I remember this one. Astringency right off the bat with a cereal grain flavor like throwing a handful of cheerios and black tea leaves in my mouth. Pepper on retro.

Halfway the astringency fell off but the flavors one dimensional and boring. Just kinda tastes like plain dry cheerios. Tried to push on but this cigar sucks.
