Bloomfield, Kooper & Stills - Super Session

Although Bloomfield and Stills never played together on this album, it was, nonetheless, a great release.

81F / 84% RH / 4 mph - sheesh, the humidity and lack of a breeze makes it tough to sit outside and smoke

Great frickin’ album! Bought this as an import back-in-the-day. Love his balls-to-the-wall versions of “Pipeline” and “Great Big Kiss.”

Hmmmm....I have no idea why I wrote "Lonely". I can see the album cover from where I'm sitting.

Man....IDK....I still like it ok, but starting to second guess my taste from 30 years ago. I always held Smithereens (and Goo Goo Dolls, Posies and maybe a couple few others like Squeeze) way above stuff later, that I considered totally mindless like Gin Blossoms, Matchbox, Ben Folds, Counting Crows, etc.

But, while Green Thoughts is a decent listen, I'm not so sure it wasn't the secretly evil stepdad of some serious crap

The O’Jays - Survival

Super underrated 1975 release with two great songs that many people (...other than maybe Jespear...) never heard: “Where Did We Go Wrong” and “Never Break Us Up.”

Chicago VIII

I know it was never highly regarded, but its got a special place in my heart. One of the first 'new release' albums I ever bought. Had the cardinal on the cover...and the t-shirt iron-on inside. Still had some of the old funk....some decent rocking....and none of the yet-to-come saccharine crap* that came with X and turned me off them for good.

America needs you
Harry Truman
Harry could you please come home

Edit.....*Forgot about 'Never Been in Love Before'.....guess I should have seen it coming....at least it tries a couple time sig changes and almost gets decent....but in way way hindsight, it makes "If you leave me know..." much less of a surprise....disappointing still...but it was inevitable, I guess....RIP Terry Kath

That said, listening to some Roy Hargrove on SXM Real Jazz this afternoon. Died over the weekend at age 49, far too soon...

Terry could play! The CTA album is one of my favorites, still remember buying it at the Downtown Singer (...yes, the sewing machine guys...) for $3.37 - an odd price that I still, for some reason, can recall.

I imagine it was spooky times for 18 to 26 years old guys. By the time I turned 18, the war was de-escalating and the draft ended in June so it wasn’t so nervewracking to become draft eligible.

Took some Palama-like digital know how to make myself this CD back around 2000....this album was only pressed in 25 copies with instructions to get it out on the web. The band sort of Napstered their own label. Rough around the edges, but good.
