I always hear that republicans are racist, but history doesn't support that narrative.
Democrat Party founded in 1829 – fought against every civil rights initiative, defended slavery, founded the kkk, imposed segregation, lynched people, and fought the civil rights act of 1964.
1857 – Dred Scott v Sandford Supreme Court Case 7 democrats voted that slaves were property, 2 republicans voted nay, they were not.
After Booth (democrat) assassinated Lincoln (republican), Andrew Johnson took over the presidency. He opposed integration. The democrats opposed the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments which abolished slavery, gave blacks citizenship, and the right to vote.
After Union troops left the south, democrats came back to power and enacted black codes restricting blacks from owning property or businesses, initiated poll taxes and literacy tests to keep blacks from voting, and enforced it through terror from the kkk, founded by Nathan Forrest… a democrat.
1912-1921 Woodrow Wilson (democrat) shared views with the kkk, re-segregated federal agencies, and screened the first film ever shown at the White House “The Birth of a Nation” also known as “The Clansman” – clearly a racist movie.
1964 – Democrats opposed the civil rights act, and even filibustered for 75 days until the republicans could get the swing votes.
It's purported that Lyndon Johnson (democrat) said, "If them n***ers are gonna vote, we'll have 'em voting democrat for 200 years".

I'm not a racist but my guess is a lot of old white politicians who live in really nice mostly white neighborhoods and who were alive during days of segregation are probably at least a little bit racist... republicans and democrats both... |

Maybe the lefties are taking just a wee bit longer to research the veracity of Ms. Swain's own research... or they're done and realize there is nothing to say. She's correct. |

Not so fast Kemosabe...
The Poli Sci Professor (or the author of your source material) left out a few details. The two parties have switched ideologies and platforms many times in American history...RINO and DINO would be more accurate terms... it is the beliefs and platforms that matter, not the name of the party...
Using progressive and conservatism as a major ideology, both parties have embraced those flags over the past 200 years. Complicating this was the rise of factions within each; large blocs of people whose ideas differed from their party's primary ideology and embraced the beliefs of the opposition during their time. So there have been periods in American history when Republicans could honestly be called "libtards": and Dems could be called "contards"...

I'm wondering why just audio, though... does the video not fit the narrative of what's being reported? ...apparently no video, but there were Fox News reporters who witnessed the incident and verified the reporter's version, contradicting the Congressman's statement. He is being charged with criminal assault and battery. The incident happened the day before election day, but more than 2/3 to 3/4 of Montanans had voted already, by mail. Some people in Montana are still dignified and upstanding. Several newspapers who had endorsed the GOP candidate withdrew their endorsements because of the incident. Yes. It's definitely a reflection on Trump. Just like Ferguson was a reflection on Obama. |
