I appreciate it and the same in return. I also recognize the sincerity and well wishes that have been in this thread. I can not put in words not just how much it means to me but how much it helped me.
Now it’s as much a goof off thread as anything but that’s good too. It’s not to long ago I couldn’t goof off.
I’m still exhausted all the time but every day is better. I still have a long haul ahead of me but my perspective has changed.

It was getting a little hinky as most American businesses were recalling a lot of their folks in Europe to avoid any "issues". I was on a two week trip to the factory and told my boss "No worries, I'm fine." In the pub by our hotel in Kortrijk, some guys started giving me grief. One of them said to the affect of "Your president is nothing but a cowboy!" I told him "Hold on there hoss. In my country we like our cowboys. We ride horses, we don't eat them!" Then I ripped into them about King Leopold and the Congo, or the "Belgian Congo". "We've never enslaved a country for their diamonds and chocolate!" When they sat there stunned that I even knew about that, I told them "Boys, some of us actually study history, we don't all sit around reading comic books all day!". The girls sitting with us started laughing at them, they got pissed and left, and I made out ok. Man that was a great trip. And I do love history. |
