I don’t have anything in 5.56 and think I should. You just talked me out of the pro. It’s 18. The v7 is 16. I’ll look at the shorter variant too, but I have my modified scorpion that is basically an sbar other than it uses a “brace” so no stamp needed.

My 9mm's are "pistols" as well. I flat out love them. I've quit buying expensive AR's though. There are enough quality parts out there and are so easy to build I do my own. Much more cost effective and just as reliable. I've never had one of mine go south.

Having a mill and a stack of 80% lowers in various configurations never hurts either.

The first carbine I built I did a worst case test with. Minimal maintenance or cleaning and it just kept running. Guys that have lots of issues usually find it's the magazines. Guys buy 1500 rifles and then buy cheap surplus mags. "Why won't this thing feed?"

.308 gets spendy on semi or full.

It’s all about which gun you more proficient shooting. For every day I have an assortment of Glocks. They come with a few different grip sizes so I get a good fit and I like the way I’m able to take up slack easier than some other brands.

I’d stay away from .380 because the ammo is 1 1/2 - 2x more expensive than 9mm.

.40 S&W is a nice round, but follow shots tend to be a bit slower due to recoil velocity.

I prefer 9mm because it stay on target better.

The CZ looks like a cross between a M9 and a 1911 to me. I like the look of it.

It's hard for me to fathom shooting any gun better than the one I have practiced with the most. It just makes sense to me to have one.

Run what you brung is the right answer. That's a 1911 in my case. Millions of rounds over the years. Next up is the Remington 870. M-14's, then the M-16 and finally the Beretta.

But I love and carry Hi-Powers as well. I shoot CZ's well also. I freaking hate glocks. Odd grip angle.

A 1911 I can pick up and shoot center mass no worries. The Hi-Power as well. JWB designed it as well. Same grip angle. Same manual of arms, crappy little safety on the Hi-Power though. Not a fan of the magazine disconnect either but it is what it is.

I always tell folks, get what you shoot the best, and that you enjoy shooting. If you don't enjoy shooting it, you won't practice with it and it's useless.

I've seen more of those ultra-lightweight Smith and Wesson titanium snub noses for sale cheap with only a few rounds through them. They are simply not pleasant to shoot. No, they're brutal to shoot with carry loads. I don't even like those little suckers.

In that context, absolutely. But you're the functional target market and can already shoot. Most of those get sold to some gal in Gander mountain that picks it up and thinks "Oh, that's super light, I like that!" and then goes out to learn how to shoot it. Then it's their only gun.

I've tossed at least a dozen of those off the firing line at NRA basic pistol classes we've taught. Give them a loaner .22lr, get them dialed in and let them go from there.

I had a 350 lb dude show up with a Kimber Ultra Carry in .45acp. Gun disappeared in that dudes mitts. I was fondling the thing as it was the first one I'd actually got to handle. His first shot was center mass, I was impressed as hell. Until his next shot and all the rest went in the mud. That thing bit the crap out of him. Flinch isn't the right word. LOL.

We put that back in it's case, gave him a Ruger MKI and he did fine after. We told him to take that back to gander mountain, get his money back and get a more user friendly gun.

I shoot my LCR often, and shoot it well. But I tend to the side of recoil junkie having also owned a Smith 460 and Ruger 480. Someday I'll buy a Smith 500, but I'm waiting for one to come to me.


The ultra carry ii is a very nice shooting carry gun. Had one for a bit.

I mean I'm thankful as hell that TW is doing well.
But can’t we just go back to hating on him yet???

Ugh. Just found the ddm4 v7 in the pro configuration but with a 16” barrel rather than 18. In addition to the geisle sg3d trigger it has the gen 2 muzzle climb mitigater rather than the a2 birdcage. They also put on a radian raptor charging handle and milslec+ cerakote.

This is my perfect balance between the pro and the regular v7 version with the charging handle and cerakote as frosting.

I wanted the trigger in the pro but didn’t want the 18” barrel (which to me makes no sense with this trigger. )

And it’s on sale cheaper than the pro and much cheaper than you could upgrade yourself.

The problem is I wanted to wait a couple months until I buy.

Sad part is I’m eyeballing a buck mark .22 aw well for $250 just because I have way too much .22lr laying around.

And it was waddling all sexy, just how I like...
