A date which will live in infamy - December 7, 1941
1. Author: MACSDate: Sun, 12/6/2020, 10:41PM EST
Mr. Vice President, and Mr. Speaker, and Members of the Senate and House of Representatives:

YESTERDAY, December 7, 1941 a date which will live in infamy the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that Nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its Government and its Emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific. Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American Island of Oahu, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. And while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time the Japanese Government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. I regret to tell you that very many American lives have been lost. In addition American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.

Yesterday the Japanese Government also launched an attack against Malaya. Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong: Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam. Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands. Last night the Japanese attacked Wake Island. And this morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.

Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday and today speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our Nation.

As Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.

But always will our whole Nation remember the character of the onslaught against us.

No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.

I believe that I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger.

With confidence in our armed forces with the unbounding determination of our people we will gain the inevitable triumph so help us God.

I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire.

Japan failed to conquer us... so they bought us, instead. They own most of the very Islands they bombed. (Hawaii)

China learned from them... and bought our politicians for far less.

Yep.
Yep.
Yep.

Ask anyone under 30 about Pearl Harbor and they’d probably guess it was a person who was a cross dressing Influencer on “Insta”.

Or the chick that looks like Michael Strahan that hosts that shopping game show.

Those who fail to remember history are doomed to repeat it.

Meet the new boss... same as the old boss. The 2nd amendment keeps us free. We lose it, we lose us.

These are the facts of the case... and they are undisputed.

I've got my torch and pitchfork ready but, I'm confused. Who get's mobbed first? The American politicians allowing themselves to be "bought"? I thought we sorted out the buying people thing after the Civil War... /shrug. The Chinese? I say we leave them 'til last. Yeah, sure, they talk funny. But, I like the food and if we're honest no one is better at killing the Chinese than the Chinese. Except, for maybe those Japanese rapscallions? Sure, they're Sneaky Pete's when it comes to Hawaii but, we did nuke two of their cities as payback. Call it even? My vote is the German's. We've never had so much fun in a war as we did with the German's. Can those guys organize a Party! I'm pretty sure this is like the 3rd time I've heard about the German's attacking Pearl Harbor... I saw it in a movie so I know it's true.

Our battle cry will be. "I am a Donut!"

Think

Japan doesn't have a military, and our economy has been stronger over the past few decades...

until recently, the US has had better trade relations throughout the world than China, and our military is much more robust and strategically placed around the globe...

why do some peeps keep perpetuating the myths that we're weaker than Japan and China?

but of course...we should never forget Dec. 7, 1941 and let our guard down like that again

Yeah! Wait, what? What myth? Who's perpetuating it? I was joking about attacking the Chinese. You attack 'em and an hour later you wanna attack 'em again. Who needs that kind of pressure? Totally serious about the German's though. War! Good God y'all! What is it good for? The economy! Plus, they started the last two. It's only fair that we start this one.

I learned something gentlemen...some have rated Japan's military as the 4th most powerful in the world...and I thought it was just an overblown police force...

every ranking system lists America's military as the top...not even close...

China's military strengths would be great...75 years ago...

^That'd be truer if they didn't have nukes. They do.
