Beautiful 68 and light breeze Saturday morning in the Valley Of The Sun. Did my usual 5 miler and came back and dragged the Yeti mtn bike out for another 6-7miles followed by a cigar on the patio. May go to the gym later but prolly just layabout the rest of the day. |

Rain again. No work on patio but went through and sorted scrap. Disassembled electric motors n stuff. Got a bucket of brass, a bin of copper, piles of steel and aluminum. I'll bring it in next week.
Wife bought an ikea metal nightstand for the boy a while ago and the screws keep working their way loose on it so I stripped the powdercoat and welded it together. Had to get a part for my paint gun and get it painted.
Took an old engine to father in law. Was gonna scrap it but he wants to mate it with a pump head.
Ordered two-tier planters to replace the garden I tore out. They didn't match the picture or description. Amazon seller wanted me to pay $120 return shipping. Escalated claim with Amazon, sent screenshots of the listing and pictures and measurements of what they sent me. Amazon refunded me everything and said I don't have to return the stuff. Next day the seller emails me that they're mailing me prepaid return shipping labels.

Wife was going to church and her car threw a code. Battery icon and a message "Stop car, leave running".
Took it to autozone to test the charging system... good news: just a bad battery.
Bad news... the battery is expensive and requires the dealer to do a computer system reset. Lovely. |

I usually wouldn't go to them, but they're open on Saturday and Autohaus Frankfurt is not.
They're the same as the dealer as far as technician certifications and usually much less in price. I think for this it'd probably be similar, maybe a little less on the reprogram. |

Picture perfect day today weather wise. High 80's, sunny, slight breeze and low humidity.
Tooled around town a bit on the bike. Buzzed buy a couple yard sales for curiosity sake but I don't need anymore junk.
Stopped at the grocery store as I needed to restock the freezer with meat. Needed some taters and onions too.
Damn... meat prices are expensive. $4/lb for chicken breast, $8/lb for steak tips (was looking for some NY strip steaks but opted for tips instead), $4/lb for pork loin, $4/lb for a pot roast, $5/lb for bacon, $5/lb for Kielbasa (WTF?).
I don't usually look at prices. I just pick out and buy what I want and/or need - it's not like you can barter with them on the price. I was curious this time and actually looked at prices. Even frozen veggies are up about 40% from the last time I cared to look. A 1 lb bag of frozen peas or beans or corn or broccoli used to be like 99 cents, now $1.39.
$100+ later and the freezer is restocked. Had to take out a hunk of corned beef to make room. Polly toss it in the crock pot tomorrow or Monday just to cook it for lunches and stuff. |

For S&G, I Googled "The Beatles: The Collection" MFSL vinyl pressing and saw the set could be worth around $2,000! That is totally crazy! I acquired the set as a trade with one of the owners of a music distributor in exchange for a Sony CDP-200 CD player. Cost me, I'm guessing, around $200, so it would have been, at that time, a fair trade. Now that the set has shot up in value, I have to think about selling it while I can. https://www.ebay.com/itm/384892656765?hash=item599d63dc7d:g:jQMAAOSwwtdiguSZ Of course I'd use the money gained from the sale towards upgrading my stereo system so it'd be easy-come, easy-go. |

Grilling unknown sausages. Few months ago the grocer had 20 packs of sausages for $1/lb so I bought one of each. Vacuum packed and froze em in lots of 5. I put the date on them, but didn't label the style/flavor. I know there was 2 kinds of brats, andouille, polish, and Italian. But they all look the same frozen. |

The song’s lyrics focus on a real life murderer from the United States called Ed Gein. Ed was a super weird character. Unlike the average serial killer who is just satisfied with murdering people, Ed wasn’t. He took things a step further. For example, in addition to his fascination with killing, he was also in the business of digging up dead bodies from graves. He also often skinned dead bodies and harvested their organs. According to reports, having removed the skins of corpses, he would proceed to wear them or use them to make a number of items for his personal use. Brick paver can look great but installation: leveling, compacting, crushed rock, more leveling and then perfect placement are required. My drive, walkway, porch, back porch, pool deck and patio are all brick pavers laid in crushed, leveled rock. No way I could have done it 50% as well as the pros. Also, pavers need to be pressure washed and sealed every year or two to look good. |

What would have been the cost difference between pavers and a poured concrete stamped type of thingy?
I've never installed either so I can't comment on pros and cons of either one and everyone has their own personal preference. It seems to me a poured/stamped thing would be less labor intensive for the install and less labor intensive for ongoing maintenance.

Too fore NINE! To get it done I got quotes around 20k for pavers 10k for concrete. I was able to borrow a skidloader vs renting, had to pay for one dump truck load of stone and one semi truck with the pavers and sand. I'll be all done well under $5k. And that's including replacing the garden too. Pros/cons - concrete cracks. Patching a cracked segment will never match the rest. Concrete is cheaper and a lot less work. In my area the ground moves a lot, so concrete would be cracked and uneven in a couple years. The pavers can move with the ground but they are on a compacted 8-10" deep base of stone so they can support as much as concrete. They both require cleaning and regular maintenance. Really the biggest difference is labor. |
