Morning Friday gents. Should be on the road to the mile high house but need another day here to sort things out first.

Catching up:

Congrats Ram and the Mrs!

First full week of mesquite seed pod patrol and the back is complaining way more than usual about all the bending and now my hammies have joined the chorus.

Pick up some knee pads, like volleyball players use. Or, if you want to invest more, Home Depot’s and the like have contractor professional apparatuses which would ease your pain.

Well, that would work iffn I had two good knees but I can't bend one past about 90 degrees nor put weight on it while bent so I just bend at the waist. The body parts might complain but they still comply.

Egg sammich.

Omelette-ish creation this morning.

Oil up the pan.
Sauté half cup of sliced green onions for three minutes.
About the same amount of spinach within a minute of the onions.
Whisk up two eggs with salt and pepper and pour into the pan with the greens.
Cook for a couple minutes and flip it over.
Add shredded cheddar cheese.
Fold it over itself, the then again.
Put it over a couple slices of tomato on two lightly toasted slices of Popeye bread.
Add hot sauce to taste.

Awesomeness.

After my 5 miler I mentioned to the wifey that it didn't look like she had picked up her share of the pods yet. I think she is waiting for sundown cuz she mumbled something about "where the sun don't shine".

It occurred to me that this is the desert version of that old joke where the guy loves the first snow of the winter and by the 10th day he is plotting how to kill the snow plow driver.

Gene,
Have you been to Scott’s BBQ in Norwood, GA?

It’s featured on a tv show called TrueSouth. Being it is close to Augusta, thought you might know it.

Been a busy few days.

Almost done shopping for my big bbq weekend next weekend. I get $1k to make it happen. Last year I spent every last bit of that, didn't have time to sale shop for the supplies. This year I have time but half the stuff literally doubled in price. Checked last years bill I sent in and my GFS portion was around $200 plus $100ish for buns. I didn't buy buns yet, but spent $380 at GFS. But the meat I got cheap. $1.29/lb for butts (limit 4 so I made 3 trips). Last year I paid $3.89/lb. I'm at $650 so far and still need buns, vegetarian option, soda, and gasoline - will put me square at $1k. I think I need to ask for a budget increase. If I didn't get the charcoal and meat on sale I'd be pushing $12-1300. When I first took over this job I was doing it for $700.

Made a new seat for the pitbike yesterday. Much better - the old one was very narrow. New one holds my whole ass but the fabric store didn't have super firm foam so I glued 3 layers of 2" closed cell foam and compressed it pretty good with the cover. Still smashes flat when I sit on it tho. But new seat, new tranny, added a headlight so I don't have to ride with a flashlight at night, new engine mounts and an oil change.

Completely emptied out the shed and cleaned it well. Filled our whole 1yd garbage can to overflowing. Found a bunch of stuff my parents and inlaws would want so dropped that stuff off with them. While at my parents house my dad had me remove the shower doors from his camper so he can fix the rollers. He's also having problems with raccoons so I dropped off a 22 and set a bunch of traps.

Made a new cover for the chicken's nesting box. Raccoons had torn up the corners and edges so much you could see inside. Cleaned out the shed and found a piece of siding from when I built the coop so I used that.

Mowed the lawn, and smoked a few chickens for the non pork eating people next weekend. Vac sealed and froze them.

Boy was towing the wagon with his go kart but using a bungee cord to attach it. I welded up a hitch for him and welded it to the go kart. Tested it and works perfectly.

Just borrowed a pressure washer to start stripping the deck to refinish. Was getting ready to start on that but wife reminded me I got a d1ck dr appt in an hour so that'll have to wait till after.

I love going to more Hong Kong style dim sum places with their expanded use of shrimp and other seafoods.

How ‘bout some chicken feet or tripe! Cool

Simply unappetized. Ain't trying no haggis neither
228. Author: delta1Date: Fri, 7/1/2022, 6:58PM EST
chicken feet and tripe are holdovers from way back...they were always on the table when I had dim sum with Mom and Dad and their families and friends...not so much after they passed...I'll eat them if I'm having dim sum with someone who orders them, but do not order them for myself or my family...

my older sister orders the chicken feet, just in honor of our Mom, and I'm the only one who eats it...

tripe, on the other hand, is a delicious addition to the Chinese beef stew that is served in a claypot...simmered low and long, it is a smooth tender gelatinous marvel that has absorbed the flavors of the stew...my mother made that stew often...with chunks of bone-in beef short-ribs, black mushrooms, potatoes, carrots, onions, star anise, dried bean curds...I occasionally make that stew, but never as good as Mom's

One of my little mescan buddies mom makes the absolute best menudo evah..............her secret is to wash the tripe with water and baking soda. But my all time favorite intestines are chicken..........Filipino grilled chicken intestines, this schit could be served in Michelin 3 star restaurants

I ve had chicken feet. Never had tripe but I wouldn't pass on trying it.

Chicken feet is like eating chicken skin and tendons. Just chewy fatty stuff. Nothing like pigs feet which I do like.

Going out tomorrow morning. I'll be good with one medium sized yellowtail.

Of course a 99 lbs. bluefin would be better...right Shawn? BigGrin

FYI, anything over 100 lbs. goes to auction, hence a less than triple digits fish is preferred.
234. Author: CelticBomberDate: Sat, 7/2/2022, 6:11AM EST
If somebody wants to catch something with a yellow tail I offer up my tomcat Milo. When Milo gets bored he sits on my chest and taps me on the forehead or nibbles on my fingers or toes until I get up. He is relentless. I had planned on sleeping in a bit. Milo had other plans. He doesn't even want to be fed. He just wants attention. So, if you want the fight of your life just gimmie a call I will ship his orange behind international if needed.

To add insult to injury my wife's cat jumps into my spot. Both my wife and her cat snore in unison. There's no 1-800 number for me to call either.

I think after Tank went to sniff Milo's butt and Milo smacked him once... it'd turn into a gory movie not safe for children under 17. Tank may need a stitch or 2, but Milo will be like Humpty Dumpty... ain't puttin' that back together.

Not really an expert on fish finders, but the low end stuff is not good... I know that for sure. Hummingbird and Lowrance experience. Buddy had a Hummingbird that was terrible for ocean fishing.

I had the Lowrance Hook 7 and it was passable for inshore, but offshore it sucked. Bad.

Now... Art's 21' Parker center console has a Garmin 924xs, and it is absolutely awesome for inshore or offshore. BUT - the most important part of the fishfinder is the transducer. He has an Airmar B175M thru-hull transducer. The picture quality with that pair is phenomenal.

Yea when you get in water over 100 ft you can really tell the difference. All my local lakes are 50' and under..........if we go to the coast this fall it'll all be inshore fishing to 20-25'.The Lowrance I have is excellent on structure,it overlays down imaging and 2D sonar. One of my Humminbird units has awesome 2D sonar with Lakemaster plotting while the other is Mega Side Imaging.........out at 75-100' you can count the scales on an old flat head hid under logs and rockpiles. My transducers are top of the line for the units I am using..........they do make one helluva difference. When I get this 22' Blue Wave all decked out she gonna be sweet.Stop by sometime we'll get her bloody.

Caught a mahi mahi, my buddy landed 3. The boat totaled 9 mahis and one or 2 near-misses. The "one that got away" was a 150-160-ish lbs. ahi that the guy fought for 68 minutes, got it alongside the boat but that fish just didn't want to go to the auction block. He fought hard each time they brought him within gaffe range and eventually threw the lure. Was caught on video so he could tell the story and not be called a liar.

Going to dinner with the family and my buddy in about an hour. One of my favorite places, Tokkuri Tei. Wide array of dishes and adult beverages. My wife and I are considering it our 40th anniversary dinner celebration even though our anniversary isn't till Monday.
