Repurposing a former wooden sandbox into a planter for milkweed plants and other butterflies related friendly flowers.

Now….. How to keep the rabbits out.

Don’t want to kill them. Just not eat the plants.

Good ideas, anyone?

Chicken wire and stakes with zip-ties to attach the wire to the stakes.

Yep... that'll do it. Or let the greyhound out a little more. Them rabbits ain't that hungry.

Related note... squirrel has been coming in my back yard. Why I don't know... it's fake grass, but it's pissin' Tank off something fierce! I keep letting him out but it sees him coming and scrams.

One of them I had almost to the surface and I watched the big bastid take it. Hope the hook in his mouth hurts like hell!

Maybe this is why it keeps coming back.

My dog would also love to chase the tree rats. They would always out run him and out dodge him then scramble up the nearest tree and chirp at him while looking down as he was looking up.

In his life, he only caught one. He (Madison, the dog) was probably middle age, say 8 yrs or so. Squirrel was busy planting acorns in the back yard and Madison was able to sneak up within about 6 feet. Then he made his mad dash. Squirrel did it's best job trying to duck and dodge but the nearest tree was too far away. Madison pinned it down, squirrel on its back and Madison staring down at it eye to eye... Then the dog looked at me as if to say, "Holy $hit I got it, never caught one before... what do I now?" That was just enough of a hesitation for the squirrel to bolt away.

Score is Madison 1 (ish), Squirrels well over a hundred.

In his older years, he'd just nap the backyard in the sun or under a tree for shade and didn't really care about squirrels anymore. Maybe raise his head and do a mini "woof."

Morning, all. Been slacking on my check-ins lately. Day two of my former director's golf outing today. Hoping to hit a little better than yesterday. The kid's in town and I had a spot for him on the team. Should be fun

Side note: I know trash pandas are a pain, but the trio of baby ones stumbling around my yard are downright adorable

What are ya getting?

A coworker just bought a Paul Reed knockoff hollowbody from (his particular model is sold out and not shown. They vary day to day)

https://guitarsgarden.com

It's a really nice guitar for the money. Great paintjob, awesome binding, pickups sound great...I'm no 6 string guy but I was impressed.

I've got my eye on a Jackson JS1X. I don't really need another bass, but I do.

The axe is being swung at my prior employer. The guy who replaced me and the entire team reporting to him were all let go yesterday. Today, more were cut.

Bittersweet. Some really good people and their families will be hurting.

I’m not shedding any tears for some other people.
Person #1 took credit for work they didn’t have any part of completing (twice) at my expense.
Person #2 a backstabbing social climber.
Person #3 was the enforcer for the leader who told a team leader “when we talk about who we are and what we are about, it isn’t appropriate to mention your belief in Chistianity because it makes people uncomfortable.”
Person #4 was the boss who was a moderately effective Administrator, but one of the worst leaders I have ever met.
When I left….. she was my boss. Back back back! BAAACK! ….. She Gone!

Get 18-24" tall chicken wire and tuck 2-4 inches under ground to prevent squeezing and digging under the new enclosure. Should be fairly cheep even if home Depot or Lowe's don't have it.

Saving him for last, which is not common, left him with all the assigned grief and work and it much easier for his boss. I will definitely remember that wise maneuver.

Appreciate the kind words and support. Now that it has been 18 months since I left, the equation really came down to this.

If I would have stayed, I could have another $50,000 in the bank, which would be nice.

As Frank would remind me, a deal is only as good as the downside.

The downside would have been, my wife would have left me, my son would be disappointed in me, and I'd be more than likely dead, or have crawled into a bottle over my wife leaving.

A few of you (Macs, rfenst, Opel, and others whom I am forgetting) all told me to get out. Looks like I put off the best decision at the last possible moment.

Thank you, Brothers.

Your timing was right, or divinely inspired. I'm very happy it worked out for you.

I tend not to worry (too much) about the future any more. Things will work out how they work out and there is no sense getting yourself worked up about something that may or may not even happen.

Just think... "I'll be fine" and deal with any adversity as it happens. IF it happens. Life is a garden, brother... dig it.
