i will go against the grain and say that i like a 42-48 ring gauge best. fat ring smokes seem real bland to me. ymmv.

I feel that both are equally important for the best fit and comfort in my hand and mouth.

Length for duration...I like it long and lasting.

Girth for that feeling of fullness...skinny doesn't do it for me.

To each his own, but for me? Both.

As far as I go, I like 54-64 ring and 5"-7". Anything else and it doesn't look right hanging out of my mouth.

I'm rather large. Body size!!

For serious cigar enjoyment, give me the classic #2 Belicoso size (as in Opus X #2, Cuban Monte #2, Fuente Cuban Belicoso Sungrown, even a Sinatra My Way rested in the 'dor for a while.) That's 50 to 54 ring with a 6 1/2 length and a tapered end that my mouth can kiss it a bit. For more casual moments, Robustos (5x50), Coronas and mini-Coronas do the trick. Of the big 7 inchers, very few have really thrilled me but a Padron Churchill (I perfer natural in this size) is a great smoke. It's probably in between a standard churchill (7x50 ring) and a lonsdale (6 1/2 to 7x 42-44 ring)

It's got to be short and thick or thin and long. Thick and long only works if you've got more than 2 hours. 2 of my favorites, Partigas series D#4 (50 X 4 7/8) and the Montecristo Especial (38 X 7 1/2)

Im reading all this and thinking i should buy my next cigar cutter from a moyel. Perhaps get a few lessons as well. Do you think a few drops of wine would effect the flavour of the cigar?

I'm more in line with wouldestous. The Padron Delicias is my everyday smoke and most Coronas fit into my smoking time.

The Padron Delicias is a short Churchill. If I'm fishing or distance driving then the larger length and slightly larger ring gauges come into play.

Some of my favorite Cuban cigars are petit coronas, coronas and a few corona gordas. (and the Punch 1998 Churchill)

I really like to have time to smoke a 54 x 7. I like the feel and balance of a cigar (note: I am referring to cigars) that size. Plus the time you get out of one. I never seem to have a couple hours to spend. I guess that's the idea behind Short Story's

I like the batch of petit corona ISOM's I got. They are perfect in size, shape and taste. If I were to have my own rolled to my standards, I'll probably walk the line and say 5 x 50 box press.

I do like the shape and feel of the Perdomo2 maddies and other box press types.
