Just bear in mind that maduro is a fermentation process, not a color. One of the finest maduros ever made was Rolano Reyes Sr.'s Cuba Aliados doble maduro, which visually was a deep rosado. It looked nothing like a conventional maduro or oscuro, though it was a doble... double fermented to maduro. Some makers have even been titled, "El Pinter" for the dyes used in the process. You'll know when El Pinter has been at work by the black residue on your lips.
The early H2000 maduros were unsmokeable, but now there are some wonderful H2000 dark wrappers available. As you might expect, maduro is not the traditional Cuban wrapper of choice. In mainland Europe the most preferred wrappers are Connecticut shade and EMS.

PAMs are definitely top shelf. But for the money, Bahia Gold Maduro, Bahia Maduro, or any of the standard Padron Maduros are outstanding smokes. If you're looking for flavor, you don't have to go to a Maduro - there are a lot of full bodied smokes that are much more complex. Try any of the Davidoff Millenium cigars - I like the Robusto or the Lonsdale. Both are outstanding, a little pricey, but outstanding.

Try the Excalibur #1 maduro and for a great inexpensive maddie try any Nestor Mark

The Helix maduro is great--tons of flavor and a touch more strength than the natural line. Well worth a try. Also agree about the Nestors--yum!!
