You are doing the right thing, be open minded. You WILL find some less expensive smokes that are enjoyable.

Do get some nice premiums too. You will enjoy them, especially when you can give them full attention.

Send me your addy & I will send you a couple to try. I recommend letting them rest a while before smoking them, unless I tell you otherwise. I will try one when I get them, but I'll have 25 of them.

My e-mail is Magnafide(at)AOL(dot)com...put 'Cunsuegra' as the title so I recognize it... :>)

PS: these are the #18 CASA GRANDE Size: 7.25 x 46...I usually like a larger ring size, but they were sold out of the larger ones, I still couldnt resist...hehe!

I just noticed you smoked your first Sherpa tonight...what a coincidence! I smoked my first tonight too!

I smoked the Orange Lable torpedo. It was pretty good. I think with more age, it will become an exceptional smoke. Time will tell. But for no humi time it was good. E-mail me...

Don't get me wrong Mag, I'm not condemning anyone for smoking Connies and I never said it was a bad post.
Simply, I am not a fan, never was of Connies. I think they are inconsistant, tasteless, and of poor construction most of the time. They are seconds.
I also believe there are far better values here at Cbid than Connies on competiting sites anyday of the week. example Rare Corojo, Kelner Seconds, and the Don Douglas Tambor bundles.
And as for yard smokes... I got a cooler full and none of em are Connies 😮
Anyone who smokes cigars long enough will have plenty of yard smokes with going out and buying them on purpose.

Meanie

Its all personal preference I guess. The two I tried were pretty darn good, and different sizes. And to be honest I couldnt tell that they were seconds. Also, they came from two guys that I consider very experienced smokers on these boards(robby & cwilhelmi).

I'll find out how consistent these are after getting the bundle I ordered. Who knows, maybe youre right. But after smoking two real good ones, I've gotta find out for myself... :>)

I'm in the same boat Mag. I've smoked about 5 or 6 before ordering my bundle and of that bundle I've only smoked 2--both very good. I'm hoping the rest of the bundle will be the same; if not, I'll chalk it up and won't go there again.

ditto. It's an EXCELLENT cigar... But, I understand if some folks have gotten some bad ones, I mean, they are seconds. But I've been very impressed and the taste on the ones I have is "second" to none 🙂

And I think the main reason Slim bashes um is because they're sold on ***YANKED***'s web site, and they're not sold here... I'm thinking if the reverse were true, the reverse would be true... Perhaps I'm just too sceptical..

Jumped on the "Connie Bandwagon" a few years ago. Bought 100 #73*s. Ott they were horrid,so I put them down to rest for a year.Tried them again and they were still terrible. Finally traded them off in frustration. My "Connie" buying days are over.

I've had good luck with Connies I've received in trades, so I ordered two bundles of #72 Maduro's ... they sure look and taste a lot like HDM Dark Sumatra's.
