True, I agree with most of what Rush says, you cited a single example of a point he made perhaps on one show? out of 13 years? Something about minimum wage?? He expresses many opinions on many subjects, most of which I agree with.

And I was conservative long before I listened to Rush. It's just nice to have someone who believes the way I do to listen to instead of, Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw, etc. etc. etc. etc...
Bombastic, yes, but so am I.

You said my attempt to label you was feeble, but you still haven't said who you voted for in the last election? Any reason why? I'm proud of the fact that I voted for Bush.

If there were to be only 1 party, I would opt for Libertarian myself. Secondly after that, the GOP (so you were wrong) The lockstep right wing beliefs I have are lower taxes, tougher on crime, and strong support of our military. Although the Repubs haven't been doing a lot to lower taxes and never will, I don't think they'll raise them as high as the democrats. What are your lockstep beliefs? Are they really that different from mine? If they are, then my “feeble attempt to label you” may not have been so feeble afterall…

"Sexual intelectuals that they are."? Hummmm this sentence is very intriguing... Oh and, fyi, it’s “intellectuals” (two L’s, but you knew that!)

But Puff, with all of the bluster of a mountain gorilla, you've come charging back, waving your arms, beating the brush, snorting wildly, but you've yet to answer a simple question? Who did you vote for? And if you won't say, why are you so ashamed? I’ve been very forthright about my opinions and explained them thoroughly. All I did was to paint you as a liberal based on your overt hatred of Rush. That’s a reasonable guess (very reasonable). Not air tight, there are conservatives who don’t like him either, but of his most vocal detractors, I’d say they are in the minority. So clear it up for me, was it Gore? Or was it Nader? heh, don't be shy!

How could you opt for libertarian if you only vote republican?? Aren't you being contradictory?

no no, not at all. I'll explain, I'm fiscally conservative, and socially I "tend toward the conservative".

If people want to smoke crack, “enjoy” hookers, whatever, I think that’s their business… I understand that this is not a traditional Republican precept. However, I also support (strongly) smaller government. I.e., smaller “Federal” government and I support local and states rights.

I believe people should be allowed to succeed and they should be allowed to fail if they choose to do so. Whatever they want to do to themselves is none of my business. But I don’t believe in abortion and that’s a Republican plank. However, I don’t think it will ever be illegal again in the US so it’s somewhat moot. But it would be good to see a ban on partial birth…

Simple. Like I said, I’m “mostly conservative”. It’s a choice of the lesser of two evils as I see it. And as I see it, the Democrats are definitely more evil than the Republicans. And for the Libertarian wanna be’s, well, they’ll always wanna be…

And I STILL think Puff will never answer the question because he voted for a Dem or a Green and says he’s not a liberal.

maybe it has something to do with the connotations that the republicans have placed on the word, it's almost as if your saying liberal and meaning the devil incarnate. Similar to how the republicans squirm when compared to the righty zealots like Pat Robertson.

Abortion is far from moot with a republican president, house and senate. Especially with the supreme court seats that may open up...

Robby, What I am saying is that while I may agree with many things that Rush says, I personally think he is a sphincter. Period. I also believe he has a completely one-sided show that has no scrutiny. Basically he is preaching to the choir. As far as how I vote, consider this. It was revealed a few years back that Rush had never voted until the late 80s. Imagine that.

Robby you are an insulting person that will be talking to yourself from now on when it comes to any exchange between us. Rail on big boy.

Right on! Nader!! I thought so, thanks, and don't be so insulted by the liberal label, wear it with pride, others here do. Oh, and grow a thicker skin? No need to cry about it.

There is a very, very good book on Rush and logic...it is actually a logic textbook, detailing his habitual use of logical fallacies:

Ray Perkins, Logic and Mr. Limbaugh: A Dittohead's Guide to Fallacious Reasoning

Great stuff. Very telling. Critical, not from ideological points of view, but from the cold, hard, universal perspective of logic. Can't really argue with this book...logic is not about opinions. It's about simple mathematical certainties in reasoning.

I wonder how that author would approach a missive from Tom Dashole, ****** Gehpart, or Bill Clinton... Surely he would find them without spot. It's all about the prism you filter your reality through. "Depends on what the meaning of the word is is"? Yeah, Aristotle would be proud...

Robby, you don't have any basis for saying that about the author. You're just guessing.

Logic is not a 'prism.' It is a universal set of rules for reasoning and argumentation...purely removed from ideology. It is a philosophical dimension of mathematical reasoning. No different than universal langauge of mathematics.

Have you had a logic class? If so, there was no way it was about debate and 'opinions.' That ain't logic.

Logic has the same rules for everyone. Dashle or Limbaugh or Franken or DeLay.

But after all I try in vain
To fetter my opinion;
Since each upon my giddy brain
Has boasted a dominion.
Comparisons, I'll not provoke
Lest all should be offended.
Let this discussion end in smoke
As many more have ended........
