10% relight.

Too damn much multitasking!

If the cigar needs fire, I (re)light it. When it gets to funky to smoke, I compost it.

Thank god for CBid, cause if I hyperventilate while attempting to enjoy a cigar (due to a tight roll), I just grab another one.

Never. The way I see it, cigars were meant to be enjoyed and for relaxation - too much fussin' with 'em just pisses me off. I've never had a cigar go out on me. If it burns poorly, I just smoke to halfway, purge it and then keep puffin (if it's too bad, then I toss it, but that's only happened once). 99% of my cigars burn just fine (now that you guys have me smokin' the good stuff...). I never walk away and come back to a cigar. I light it and nub it -squeezing out every last drop of enjoyment. I don't smoke as many as some of you guys - so I savor every one!

oops... the question was - how many light it just once... so my answer is "always" ... sorry...

Great answers guys!!!

I am so jealous of those who have said they can't remember the last time they had to relight a cigar! lol.

As i said, my herf buddy (rjdc) RARELY relights them and has been an excellent coach to correctly smoking them. I am a long time veteran cigar smoker but frankly never realized how much i still had to learn. He swears by the George Burns puff but i can't keep my darn teeth off of them. Good thing i'm not a chick!! lol

Great answers, thanks again,

Looks like I'm in the minority here. I can't remember a time when I smoked a cigar all the way through without relighting. They go out all the time as I get distracted with whatever task is at hand. I just toast the extinguished foot in the flame until a full glowing ring appears then puff it again, no bitterness, no waste, no problem!

Most of the time when I'm sitting and relaxing with a cigar I only light it the first time. Probably 92% of the time.

However, when I go on walks with my wife the percentage goes down to about only 75% of the cigars I only light once. Sometimes I have to relight twice. But I tend to not puff them as much when walking as when sitting.

All right Seacoast, I'll weigh in.

Most of the time I get 2 cigars on one lite. (I piggy back my smokes when I can).

There are sometimes that I have to relite to correct the burn. Maybe 5%.

About 5% of the time to keep a POS, too tight wrap, lit so I don't collapse a lung sucking some life into it.

5% of the time, if I have to go into a store, I cut just the lit part off and leave the blackened part.
I purge it also.

Truthfully I hate to re-lite.

More importantly, many don't "FIRST" lite properly.
That's for another posting.

Tandem401, good post. Meeee too, lol. I can't remember the last time i had an entire cigar on one light... I think i need to slow down some, smell the roses and more importantly, keep that darn gar lit. lol.
