84 outside, 74 inside. According to Accuweather, I should have 5 hours to go before it drops to 72.

I forgot about the old ice trick. Unfortunately, I only have 1 ice pack here and that's now in the coolidor. I made 4 others with ice and doubled-ziplocs using paper towels for vapor barriers. Temps are trending down from 74.

I'll keep my eye on the moisture as well as the temps.

72 and falling. The paper towels remain dry.

I feel it's safe enough to go run some errands.

I know you're all just sitting around biting your nails with anxiety over this, so I'll report in again later. { =^ )

O.K. so Accuweather's forecast went from 82 to the present 92 in a matter of hours. Are we ever going to be able to reasonably predict the weather? I can look at my thermometer and get as good a forecast as these jokers. I guess we didn't get the off-shore breeze that they were forecasting.

Well the ice is working, for the most part. 3 of my humis are under 70 while 2 are flirting with 77. The ice melted while I was running errands so I restocked 'em. Paper towels are still dry.

Now they're saying 7PM will be 73 so I'm praying to hold back the forces of Mother Nature for another 2 hours.

They're still calling for no more than 72 tomorrow, but I won't hold my breath. Better stock up on ice. My local licquor stores both give a free bag of ice/6-pack so I'll have to sacrifice a few dollars for the cause.

I am sorry to hear that K. To all the buggies that could attack your cigars...I wish them a quick evaporating death, with no damage or holes.

We lucked out up in here in Washington and it is raining right now, and mid-50's. Yesssssss!

All 6 beautiful humidors, and 3 coolidors are sitting at mid-to-high 60's.....temp. and humidity. I love this game. LOL

Today I put all the desktops in a bottom cabinet with my tupper. I put a bunch of ice in there with 'em. I also put some ice in my coolidor. Room got up to about 77, but the humis never got over 70.

We're in for some high 70s this week so I'll probably repeat the process. I put the melted-ice, double ziploc ice packs in the freezer so they should be nice blocks by morning.

Problem solved, for now. I resolve to have a full climate-controlled humi by next summer.

I hear you brothers!! I live in the "high desert". Loosely translated, that means hot as a mutha-fu**a during the day and cool at night. I do have central air, however in order to conserve $$ on electricity, it is set to come on 2 hours before I get home each day... by that time it is usually in the low 80's upstairs in the house... I gotta get me a climate controlled humi too...

Just got back from Monterey. The first day (last Tuesday) was 90 something. The Hotel didn't have room A/C. They said "Heck 360 days of the year...we don't need A/C. I didn't mind, I spent the day walking around town. Smokin a few cigars. Watching boats...etc.

It was nice the rest of the week...not so hot.

I answered my question and found a nice tobacco shop (Hellam's) in old town Monterey.

Excellent selection. Well stocked and well kept place. Bought a couple cigars there I wouldn't have tried otherwise.

MACS(SW), you need a fridgadoor. You can buy an old fridge in the paper. Go to a beer making shop and get a device used to lager beer, and viola! You're boxes do the rest.
