From the rules, "...competing web sites,..."

I didn't post a website and they are not competing since they don't offer the same goods.

However,...if someone will provide me the procedure for editing my post - I'll remove it.

Believe it or not. It's up to you. I just got a well informed confirmation, much to my surprise, that the Davidoff Gran Cru and Purofino Milenio are virtually the same cigar, but for the wrapper. The Purofino Milenio has an Ecuadoran Shade wrapper, instead of the USA/Connecticut wrapper that's on the Davidoff Gran Cru. "The wrapper on the Purofino Milenio grades out slightly lighter in color than those on the Davidoff Millenium, but both are from Ecuador." I guess you could say the Purofino Milenio is ostensibly a similar cigar to the Davidoff Gran Cru with the Davidoff Millenium wrapper.

SteveR,

I would love to know who your guy in the inside is. I am sorry to say “the proof is in the pudding” I think people that smokes these cigars can tell they are worlds apart, it would be great to have a smoke of that caliber for a fraction of the price until Davidoff lowers the price I don’t see it happening.

Da-Glyde: I'm curious. When have you last smoked and compared the Purofino Milenium, Davidoff Gran Cru and Davidoff Millenium?

I recently learned that Roger Ralphs, aka Doc Puro, is no longer associated with Purofino. As you might know, Purofino was actually produced by Gabriel Lardizabal at Honduras-Cuban Tobaccos (HCT)in Danli Honduras.

The Purofino Milenio brand and frontmarks are now owned by a distributor/vendor who could be deemed a competitor of CBid/CI so it's inappropriate to discuss the source of information regarding the blending of the cigars. But, as we discussed in prior posts, the brand is commissioned to Alec Bradley, who, in turn, has them rolled at Kelner's factory in the Dominican Republic, where the Davidoff is also rolled.

Personally, I have no stake in any similarity or dissimilarity; other than my wallet. I buy Davidoffs when Davidoff runs their "buy two, get one free specials." I was gifted a sample pack of Purofino Milenios when they were released about a year ago, and was astounded at how similar they were to the Davidoffs. Recently, I saw that the banding on the Purofinos changed from white to blue, so I bought three sizes; corona, torp, and churchill to see if the blend had also changed. To my satisfaction, the blend has remained consistent. I asked a source in the cigar business, who confirmed my impression.

I'm smoked cigars regularly for over four decades, and while my ability to discern taste has admittedly diminished over the past 60 years, I think I still have a pretty good sense of similarity of cigar blend. It, of course, remains up to the individual to determine what they like or don't like. And, if I may add, once you've been to the factories and witnessed the production, you come to realize that there are many identical cigars in the marketplace bearing different brands.

Steve,Did you ever get to try the AB Special Blends belicoso. The one you figgered was close in size to the Davidoff Special "B"? X

X: I didn't. A friend ordered the Special Blends and said they were all underfilled, so I assumed that they were seconds, similar to the mixed fill Private Stock.

Steve,I checked the sizes of the Private Blend and not one matches up with any Davidoff. However several sizes of the AB SB do. The size we had discussed in the past, the Belicoso is very tastey smoke and not underfilled in the least,YMMV. X

I've gone through a box of the ME PC's, and have another box resting. The PC size is the best valued among the ME line imho.
