Typical lib-spin: Nothing the Republicans do is good, or if it is, it wasn't intentional. The freed slaves might disagree with you.

> Sorry Cigarick...it really wasn't about slavery, though the history books like to tilt it that way.

Somebody mentioned above that the USA was the "ONLY" country where a civil war has ever been fought to abolish slavery.....really, gee, do you get out much? Are you aware of the 27 million slaves in the world today, and the many many civil wars that are being fought right now today to try to free them? Next month I'll be in West Africa doing some work. Why don't you tag along with me and see the "real world." Bring a good sidearm and a set of brass b*lls by the way.....

Yo adroomi:

You think it's tough in Africa, and you even get to "pack". You have been away from America too long. Here in Philadelphia murder runs rampant, to walk down any street "without" after midnight takes CHROME Ba**s.

Cigarick....the slaves were "freed" over the course of several years, after the civil war. The North won the economically based war and they had anti-slavery laws on the books, so the south had to comply. I am not a "liberal" by any stroke of imagination (ask rickmaven). As I said earlier, I stayed awake in school.

Adroomi....my slam unto you was unwarranted and assumption based. I have a couple friends who live abroad and enjoy pissing on the US from across the ocean when they get the chance. I see a lot of those traits in your posts, so I jumped your case.

I forget sometimes that when this board gets political, stupidity runs rampant.

There's no shame in using google--I use it all the time...

Also, nice to know that someone paid attention in class--I didn't.

The truest statement I have seen on these boards in a long time:

"...when this board gets political, stupidity runs rampant."

Though I would add "when this board gets political, stupidity and hypocrisy run rampant."

Hypocrisy? What does medical ethics have to do with any of this??

BE IT HEREBY KNOWN THAT TO DISAGREE WITH UNCLEB IS TO BE A STUPID HYPOCRITE!!

....I'm pretty sure I paid attention in school as well, but for some reason I can't remember any of it. The only things I see in my mind when I think back to those days are '70 Nova's, Ted Nugent T-shirts, and High Times Magazine.......I guess that taught me all I needed to know (at least for the time anyway).

"As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master. This expresses my idea of democracy. Whatever differs from this, to the extent of the difference, is no democracy."
