Indeed. Golf can be very expensive. I had to put off buying a house because of my golf habit....cut into my down payment a little too much 😉

I here you! You gotta have that "best new putter" that just came out. Same goes for fishing.

On a side note, my brother and a few friends went to Congressional to watch the golfers last week. Now i know

why the purse is so high. $100.00 just to get in! $160.00 to get in the club house! 30,000 people a day!

Maybe I WILL take up golf.

My most memorable round of golf was I had the opportunity to play Pebble Beach, absolutely glorious round of golf. I shot a "relaxed" 123. Only lost one golf ball too. LOL Round of golf cost $150.00 and was worth it.

I did however par the 18th, and that was priceless!!!

The putt was given to me. I went up with one arm leaning in to make it and it actually lipped out. But our scorekeeper gave me the birdie nonetheless. I am actually pretty good at putting, compared to other aspects of golf. In hindsight, I probably should have treated it like any other putt, but we were just playing in a friendly foursome.

By the rules, at least in match play, a putt conceded is a putt made...

and there are no remarks on the scorecard....nice shot!!!!

$150?????.....that must have been 20+ years ago (when I lived in Monterey). We could play for $135 with a military ID. Of course, you could play Spanish Bay for $26 after 2 PM with a military ID. Spyglass was the same deal for $36.

I played two years ago and was staying at Casa Palmero, right there at the resort, and it was $375 to play Pebble! It was $425 for a walk-on. I birdied 7 and 8.....and then double bogied 18 to shoot a 75!

Heck...what you bragging about? you didn't even get a single hole in one.

I once shot 17 consecutive hole in ones (if I could have just made the 18th I would have won a free round on my next visit)

Nice!!!! Too bad you didn't get the "slam dunk".

Steve, I'll share this since you know Tony.

Me, Tony, and my son were at a course here a couple of weeks ago - Black Mountain Golf Club. (#17 on this course is a 749 yard Par 6 if you go from the back tee box) Anyway, Tony had 172 yards in to a par 4. It's uphill, so you can see the pin but not the green. There's a bank to the right at the green so, if you're lucky, it can help kick the ball left if you miss to the right. Go to the left and you're in the crap. Anyway, I hit a beautiful shot in and was on the green. My son hit his on too. Tony hits his in an we see it kick hard right off that bank and knew it rolled off left - worst approach of the three by far. The way it kicked there was no way it could have stayed on - no way.

(Keep in mind we had money on the back nine).

We get up to the green and see 2 balls. We look off the green for Tony's ball for a good 5 minutes. Finally my son goes over and looks in the hole and just drops his putter on the ground and says, "I'll be a SOB! I'm not believing this BS." It must have hit the stick and dropped straight down for an eagle. We didn't see the flag kick or anything. For a straight approach, it has to be one of the most difficult eagles for any hole at any course in western N.C.

I had to buy lunch. Tony shot a 72 that day (+1)

Don't include me in that. I had an 84 that day and my best ever is an 81. Tony had a 72 that week and a 74 the next. He is waaaaaaaaaaay out of my league.
