I must have written 10.000 words and only that one line offended you? Why do I think this runs deeper?

But to answer your only complaint, what I wrote is a play on words, irony was involved, humor was the intent. Showing those that have been belittling tachers for years with the use of a caustic phrase just how easy and superficial it is to do so. And it was McBryde, not me, that was pissed off by "those who can't, teach". I was supporting him. I'm not a school employee.

I'm thinking the only possible group that could have been insulted (for real, not to be provocative) would be those that can't teach...so even they must admire teachers who can.

Honestly, not sure who I hurt with this.

By the way, the rest of the original insult to teachers goes"...and those who can't teach, teach gym". Brilliant critique, no?

Nothing "deep" here, just my way of stating that "tit for tat" is pointless, you need not have included that phrase in your argument IMO. It was well stated to that point and lost a bit with the counter punch. I also feel that yes in 10,000 words one line can be offensive, doesn't necessarily negate the entire body of work yet can weaken it.

Just for my edification, if I do have issue with only one line out of 10,000 words it shouldn't/doesn't count?

The important thing is that you were OK with 9,820 of the words.

When you disagree with most of the righties on this board they need that 'your opinion is valid' line, if you don't give it they think you are arrogant for presenting a different view. I can't keep doing that every time. I don't even know your politics but you are a better person for having noticed this and done it. It might keep him from crying.

I don't know his politics, not so sure that he even took a position on the public school issue. Seemed like Hank's issue was with what he saw as hypocrisy on my part. My first reaction was I thought he had a problem with me, he said no, I have no reason not to believe him, and his opinion IS valid, we just may not agree.

I even think he was giving my opinions consideration, or at least respect, up to that one line. If not, so what?

Oddly, I respect both of your rights to be wrong.

I've met plenty of flaming liberal American Jews that when it comes to Israel would fall in the definition of Israeli right wing conservative. I don't see those as contradictory since really both political parties in the US have the exact same line of this issue.

I've moved beyond looking for Israeli/Palestinian peace. Right now I see the real opportunity is to figure out how to arm both sides of the conflict before the next war and not do it with US taxpayer money or at least have a piece of the companies that stand to profit from destruction in the region.
