This clown get his protester info off Facebook...don't confuse him with the facts. don't stare at him in the eyes either. It only riles them up and nobody wants to clean up that mess!

So their point is the same powers that be that f*cked the system up in the first place (or translated to the 1%) now go back to the drawing board and fix it?

Talk about passive aggressive.

Most movements come with a thought out goal. Remove the dictator and install democracy. End the war. Human rights. Right to marry. Civil rights. A goal. an end game that they thought of all by themselves. Something they want.

I think shaking your fist at the current system and makng the current powers that be go back to try to fix it is a weak agenda.

And again I actually agree with a lot of what I hear from the less crazy protesters.

Ah yes...The Civil Rights Movement vs the Bowel Movement on Wall Street.

Well I can see how you got there. The word Movement is in both of them.

Here's your little silver star. Now can you tell the difference between a "cause" and a "disobedience"? The winner gets chocolate milk after nap time.

DrMaddVibe wrote:

The difference is one you can't disagree with because the passage of time has proven it to be moral and just. The other is happening now using many of the same tactics but it's 'illegal' and they should all just behave. Same crap said about MLK 50 years ago. Avoiding the issue, just demonize the people who are bringing up the issue. Typical conservative tactic actually.

But if its a leaderless movement than the owner of that facebook page speaks no more or less for the group than the crazy lady with the squirrel on her shoulder who wants to abolish all debt.

and thats my point.

Get a leader, get a message, focus.

get a permit, get some port a potties, get a stage and the media will eat it up.

Until then they are a non factor other than media darlings.

Protest in the middle east against US policies = Dog bites Man
Protest in the US against US policies = Man bites dog

Truly a wasted opportunity to get out what could be a decent message if they would just focus.

You obviously didn't take my advise and go back in the thread to read what was already discussed. /sigh

"Declaration of the Occupation of New York City
THIS DOCUMENT WAS ACCEPTED BY THE NYC GENERAL ASSEMBLY ON SEPTEMBER 29, 2011"

You see, each point was discussed, written together and voted on, you know democratically, then released.

“Call it democracy, or call it democratic socialism, but there must be a better distribution of wealth within this country for all God’s children.”

"You're really tampering and getting on dangerous ground because you are messing with folk then. You are messing with captains of industry… Now this means that we are treading in difficult water, because it really means that we are saying that something is wrong… with capitalism… There must be a better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism.”

It still looks like just a good opportunity to increase sales of bottled water and Axe body spray.

....and no, the French will not serve you cake. You'll just bitch that it either was outsourced or that it added to the trade imbalance. Make your own d&%n cake.

Get off my lawn! Kids nowadays and their music and fornicating and dancing and politics. When I was their age I walked to school in the snow uphill both ways with no shoes . . . .yada yada yada

I know that you don't understand the ramifications of setting a bad precendent. That's OK. But instead of discussing it further you've decided to stick your fingers in your ears and sing yada, yada yada.

I'm beginning to understand why you side with the OWS crowd.

lol, you are so silly. You aren't worried about helping stop the protesters from setting a bad precedent. You and others on this board are looking for any way to make them look foolish, even if it makes you sound like an old man shooing them off you lawn while complaining about the kids today. The yada yada isn't there to make it look like I don't want to hear you, it's there because the entire routine you are performing is a very old one that has been going on since the beginning of civilization and yada yada it's all been heard before.

Maybe you remember the story of Jesus busting up the money traders in the temple. After that he healed people for no compensation. Sounds like he broke some laws there, he had just traveled a long way to get there, probably smelled too. As an establishment type you would be on Rome's side because this long haired hippy is messing with your system without the proper permits.

I agree with the $20/hour minimum wage.

When a Whopper Combo is $60, the number of fat kids and fat adults will rapidly shrink.

Of course, when they go through carb withdrawal, they'll get all mean and stuff.

But the $200/hour cops will handle it.

Occupy Rome is torching cars and buildings. There are serious injuries reported. Meanwhile Occupy Wall Street is trying to figure out where to poo in the park.

Upstaged by Europe once again.

HockeyDad wrote:

That community only existed because the Romans allowed it. The really community began in Europe- long after Jesus, aided by Christianity, to every-one's advantage. Money lending was contrary to Christian religious doctrine, so that left that industry open enough to allow Jews to get their feet in the door. Doctrine changed and the Jews were told to either convert to Christianity or suffer consequences. The rest is, as they say, history, but I probably made some of this up just to seem knowledgeable.
