Great catch! on what should be seen as a non-partisan issue. You really never read conspiracy crap from me, but I suspect there is a lot going on behind the scenes and that this is a whole bunch of "wink-wink" to provide "cover" for what might come out later on. Give me some time to think about this one- and to not spew vomit like too many here do- just for the sake of their own personal gratification. and entertainment.

Free Men and women should and can revolt when it comes to any such breach of freedom or we are doomed to become insignificant people without souls..

Thanks Robert......I hope you realize I didn't mean this in a partisan spirit just a liberty issue.

Levin introduced it though in a defense appropriations bill which as the article said is rarely voted against.

Yeah. I caught that. Someone wants this REAL BAD. And, Levin is privy to almost all of it.

Just my off-the-cuff opinion...
1)When applied to a citizen of the United States, this is completely unconstitutional.
2)Any representative who votes in favor of this is voting to disregard the Constitution (don't they swear to uphold that document when they're elected?)
3)That makes them traitors, and therefore subject to imprisonment without trial... in accordance with their own wishes.

BTW this is scary stuff.Anyone who votes for this should be hung from the highest yardarm.........or sentenced to life in front of the firing squad.

you and Al Franken agreeing...absolute proof you are not pulling a partisan stunt. There are freedom lovers on both sides of the aisle, maybe even way up in the balcony too.

Franken is right on most of the issues. He is against the patriot act and has fought to get rid of the government over-reach in that bill as well.

This law is a natural extention of the patriot act and paranoia about terrorism. The country was willing, for some reason, to give up some privacy for safety 10 years ago. I hope the country pays closer attention to crap like this and fights back by not voting for the people who support laws like this.

Right according to who??????You Fuzzy?????Yet I do intend to look a little closer at Rep. Franken...........I still think he's a nut for the most part.

I do not for one minute buy that this law is a natural extention of the Patriot Act.While not a huge fan of the Patriot Act,I am a realist and understand that some of this provisions in thsi act are absolutely necessary.I also believe that most of this being made openly available to the public is absolutely wrong.......Kind of like telegraphing your plays in advance to your opponent. If solely used to PROTECT the general public.........I'm OK with that. This so called natural extension is nothing more than the extreme left stroking their power pole......and yes given the opportunity I think the left would lock up all conservatives in a reeducation camp..............But only for the GREATER GOOD.[sarcasm]

You really are clueless. You looked at the vote, you saw the comments, this was not a partisan issue. Both the left and the right disliked this clause yet both the left and the right voted for it.

Yet you think "This so called natural extension is nothing more than the extreme left stroking their power pole." and that the patriot act's unconstitutional provisions are needed because why? it was during a Republican administration?

This is why you are a partisan hack and also mentally challenged because you are not able to see the logical pretzel you are trying to sell.
