It's a sexual characteristic which based on a recent study appears to be linked to increased baby-makin capabilities in the mother. This suggests a common factor. As there is inheritance, it seems likely (but as of yet unidentified) that there is a gene involved, but there are other ways this can occur.

What kind of retard would link cause and accountability in this case?
By your statement, we should NEVER try to figure out what causes any behaviors, ailments or weather, because we're afraid someone may use it to shirk accountability.
And for the record, it isn't ANYONE's fault their gay. We know gay isn't a choice. You do understand that, right? How many times does that have to be said? Gay isn't a choice. You can take a gay man and force him at gunpoint to only have sex with women the rest of his life, to marry and have children. But he's still gay. That didn't change who he is sexually attracted to. that doesn't have anything to do with accountability, since the gender of who you want to screw has NO IMPACT on your contributions to society.
