"Opponents of the company's stance are planning "Kiss Mor Chiks" for Friday, when they are encouraging people of the same sex to show up at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country and kiss each other."
This is where the "gay community" loses credibility, in my opinion.
Let's recall how this entire issue began: The mayor of Boston read an interview about the owner of Chik Fil-A supporting traditional, biblical marriage. This somehow outraged the mayor and he vowed to keep the business away from the freedom trail. A clear violation of rights and an attempt at abuse of power.
This then morphed into a gay rights issue. And the ugly from both sides came out in spades.
Now the gay community is going to use their favorite tactic by going militant. This kiss-off will turn more people AWAY from their cause. The extremists will never be swayed to accept gay marriage. Hell, they want to "cure" them. But those in the middle have historically been apathetic. They don't care what anyone does. They just don't want it thrown in their face.
Which is exactly what the plan will be. An in-you-face display that is unlikely to remain civil. Between the bigots barking outrageous slurs, to the gay couples who will most certainly offer more than a simple smooch, this will turn out to be a disaster.
I hope I'm wrong, and this proves to be the exception. But with history at my side, I doubt it.
