There are just not enough of us older, white guys around any more to keep this country great.
Republicans need to buy, er, attract more of the black, latino (illegal or not), golden Depends parachute, and idiot soccer mom vote.

I honestly don't think everyone has a clear view of reality. Over the past 4 years my work load has increased, my pay has increased, my capabilities and opportunities have increased.
I don't like some of Obama's policies (I really don't like Obamacare) but the country has not imploded and those that are convinced he is personally to blame for their hardships perhaps need to reflect a bit on what may have actually caused it.

Easier to blame a president for a lost job than yourself.

Yeah. Me too!

Here's my reality though!

Over the past 4 years my workload has increased because we've scaled back from 16 people to 4 on my team. They've also migrated 4 other Fortune 500 networks into one we were already tasked with!

We did get a 2.5% raise this past year AND they restored the 5% they took away 3 years ago...plus last week I worked 33.5 hours of overtime! I'm lucky enough to be salaried WITH overtime! So if a teammate is sick, on vacation or on a project MY opportunities have increased because of my capabilities!

I don't like ANY of Owedumba's policies and the country IS imploding. The compliant media isn't reporting it in any way, shape or fashion! When you're stupid enough to add 4 + TRILLION to the incredible and outrageous debt pile then anyone paying attention to KNOWS he caused his own problems.

When we have the most divisive Vacationer In Chief telling us we didn't build things, it's all because of some YouTube video or acting stupidly he gets every damn bit of blame he deserves!

PS: ALL UNDER THE CONE OF PROTECTION TOO!!!! Now I'm gonna brag about it. I was kinda embarassed by it but WTF...its not MY company!

Lissen Blubberino, other Reaganites abstained from voting or went with Kerry on principle.
You weren't the only one.

Yes you did blood. But many/most in here did not.

Reagan wanted a bigger tent not a smaller tent. I'm not sure what the party hopes to gain by driving the moderates out and marginalizing the party.

Folks in here may be right about me. Maybe I'm not a republican anymore. The party I knew and was very active in has moved and made it clear they don't want me or my type (I know I know...rugby player) in it. I relate more to the Rs in more areas than I do the Ds but to the Rs it seems to be 100% agreement or you are the enemy. That is a long term recipe for failure, and it certainly is not Reagenesque.

Meh. If the party swings back to normalcy I'm still here. If they don't they really don't care if I'm i nthe tent or not.

In the meantime I'll eat circus peanuts and watch the tent shrink as my waistline increases.

LOL! TW, you're in better shape than most, my friend.

Not sure what is happening either but the demographics are certainly changing quickly and the Democrats have tapped into that.
I think I'll "retire" from politics & just keep my nose to the grindstone & blinders on til I get driven off the cliff.
Sorry for the mixed metaphors but I didn't stop my flu vaccines soon enough.lol

I love the tangy dynamics between you & DMV, Victor, Brehaw, Pdx, HD, rfenst, gene, drywall, Z and several others on this board.

Bloody we all make choices. Short term some of mine worked against me, but long term they seem to be working alright. It wasn't dumb luck. I chose my path (education, work, family) and yes have had a little luck mixed in as well. I had some bad luck as well....like everyone else. I am fortunate though, I have a good job that fits my education, a beautiful wife, awsome kids, and a dog that eats my socks.

I didn't envy those that chose a different path and seemed to be doing better than I in the short run anymore than I wished they would fall off the cliff when their riskier endevours fell through. I hope they pick back up and excel.

It's like investing in the markets or bonds/cds etc. pick your path but don't envy or wish ill will on others that chose the other path.

beleive it or not I work my ass off, and will continue to. And I am damn good at what I do. just ask me LOL.

^ yada yada yada... I was talking about your physical appearance/weight/shape, douche. You had made a reference to your waistline. LOL
Come to think of it, you've had your health issues, haven't you?
Wonder how Obamacare will help people outside the Government with similar illnessess? Especially the struggling class. (serious question)

And no, I don't begrudge what you've accomplished in your life. Aside from your spelling, it's commendable.

If that is the case, then I am in worse shape than most.

Interesting thing about my illness. Being a pre-existing condition it would have required I stay in my current job and remove many options.

My brother had a heart condition and died when he was 8. My dad had to pass up many oppertunities with other employers because he could not afford the repercussions on the health insurance side. After my brother died he had a short window until my mom almost died of bacterial menningitis. He retired early and stayed on the group plan paying $1200 a month for their insurance until they went on Medicare. I am proud of my dad but beleive his potential was limited by circumstance. Wha Wha wha. It always will be to some extent.

I don't like Obama care and am someone who has studied health care delivery systems and worked in them for many years. But like anything else there is some good and some bad in it. Overall.... not a great thing. But there are some good parts. It sure would have helped my dad, and it gives me some oppertunities I didn't have. I'm an incrementalist. I think many of the components of Obama care are good and many are not. They shouldn't have put the whole hodgepodge in place. They should have put a few out there, assessed them, then tweaked them and moved on. Politics did not allow that, the broad brush statements in here are a testiment to that.

And there are costs/downsides as well (of course).

YMMV
