Corn question for you Numi -

Here in Central CA, we are already looking at about 95 degrees during the days... we completely missed spring altogether, and with it the opportunity to grow spring crops like carrots and others...

I've heard that flint corn is more frost resistant than sweet corn, and as such I was wondering - should I risk planting some now and hope it can tolerate the high temps or am I better off rolling the dice on a late summer / early fall planting?

and thanks again for the seed... really looking forward to growing it...

Glad to see people getting the seed planted.

I'm gonna head to the Shur-Save to grab a can of corn to plant myself.

yes, and yes.

Do both, I'm in hte process of putting together around 15-20 pkgs. and you have one mixed in which will have extra seeds.

Try it out in both seasons if possible, this was/is the whole idea to see how hardy the stuff can be.

🌫 SHur save, real funny.

so much fer secret growers.

your pkg. will have an extra prize!

and yes I still have a few that don't have seed, as stated, I have packaging goodies strewn all over 2 rooms. MFR's, and SFR's, corn, vending gum, a heat sealer, ziploc bags, etc, etc.

For someone who hasn't worked in 3+ years it sure is frustrating to struggle with little projects 🤦 🐴

My apologies, been a real "zoo" here, and I don't "function" well, hehe.

Lots of extra stress to boot, wife's HS reunion weekend, Hometown Strawberry festival been going on all week, all sorts of personal things going on, but...........................................such is life.

Sure glad everyone else is gardening this year for me, as I will not be, or if so, it will only be a short row of red okra to rebuild my seed stock.

I may grow a small "block" of the numicorn for seed as well.

Not sure how well mine is going to be.

I was only able to get creamed style corn.

I put about one teaspoon full in each hole.

Will post up soon about the progression.

Maters went in this morning and look pretty.

Now time to start squirrel hunting.

You're gonna need some chew to keep you busy planting, hehe.

This Stoker's apple's been in a MFR for a week and I will be getting that one and a few more out this week.

There's even gonna be some surprise growers, hehe........

I do have some tobacco seed as well (Connecticut Broadleaf, and Kelley Burley), if I grow any tobacco, it will not be from seed, I will order my plants from New Hope Seeds, just like last year, decent price, not cheap, and very hardy plants.

Hopefully I can get my son to break up a spot and help me get the red okra planted along with a couple of short rows of purple hull peas. That will be all the gardening I will even try this year!

It's up to ya'll to keep the Numicorn going, now

If all goes well, I will have plenty of red okra to share after this year's growing season.

update: more still coming, if anyone got left out that's not on the list, let me know, some may have gotten seed that I didn't make notes on, as I have been slipping on these last pkgs. Not even writing down what's sent 🤦 (yes I know there are gaps, even Spring has been cold, and agreeing with Numi, be patient, hehe)

Doesn't hurt to remind me, though, admittedly the pain meds make my memory poor, it's why I keep notes and tend to be slow to respond/pack.
