Knowing what a ‘Gringo’ is, I became curious about the name ‘Cocolo’. Here is what I found on my internets;
1. Cocolo is a slang term common in the Spanish-speaking Caribbean used sometimes to refer to non-Hispanic African descendants. It is also a term used to refer to people from Anglophone and Francophone Caribbean in Spanish-speaking countries and the Cocolos of San Pedro de Macoris, Puerto Plata and the Samana Peninsula in the Dominican Republic.
2. Cocolo is a medical device prosthetic that provides a means for the collection of waste from a surgically diverted biological system (colon, ileum, urinary) and the creation of a stoma. Pouching systems are most commonly associated with colostomies, ileostomies, and urostomies
3. Cocolo is a bohemian word meaning “to eat fat”.
