On a sidenote...saw two jets take off on both runways yesterday in Tampa...big airliners...going the same direction with only a runway between them...what's that about a mile? It made the entire highway lock up.

As far as the distance of the runways, they are 4301 feet apart at the centerlines. That distance allows simultaneous departures providing the initial departure headings are 15 degrees apart. It's not the normal at TPA, but not illegal or unsafe at all.

A bill that would end the Federal Aviation Administration’s furlough on air traffic controllers is now on its way to President Obama to sign.

On Friday, the House passed the measure 361-41.

On Thursday night, the Senate passed the legislation after most lawmakers had left the Capitol for a weeklong vacation.

Earlier this week, lawmakers from both parties urged the Obama administration to postpone or cancel the furlough of air traffic controllers, with some accusing the FAA of playing politics as the cuts contributed to massive delays at airports across the country.

The furloughs went into effect Sunday, and the impact was felt almost immediately.

Cocolo is a term that Puerto Ricans use to describe a person that listens to salsa music, and dresses a certain way. Kind of like a "rocker" type term from the 80's.

The term started in the 70's when most of the salsa singers (also known as soneros or salseros) were black cuban/puerto ricans.

I was first called "cocolo" around 1989. Because I was a white guy that loved salsa music. The term has changed meanings over the years, but mostly within the slang of different ethnic groups. Some Mexican dialects for example, use the term closer to the "N" word.

It's a play on words, literally a white guy that likes salsa music. But believe what you want.
