Blood I have no doubt if you were elected president you could change some of those things primarily because they have already changed (in the 70s and 80s) and are no longer true. I know folks have tried to splain that to you in the past but you don't want to know. It would get in the way of your blind outrage. Mentally you are living several decades ago.
If it makes you feel better I am not exempt from social security and it is one of the base peices of my retirement (although just like everyone else it probably will not be there).
I will never be able to double dip. Retirement is too far away for me to be exact but it will be in my upper 60s or lower 70s. With my health condition I will likely never make it. Even if I did go early it would just mean 401 rollover like when I left the private sector. Double dip is largely gone. You are probable referencing old timers but attrition and death will take care of that in short order.
The other main component of my retirement is a 401k look alike (tsp) I contribute to just like folks with their 401. It is generous but exactly like the one I had in the private sector in all ways including contributions.
There is a tiny pension. To be honest I couldn't tell you exactly what it is but it's small enough you can take it if you want. It truly is insignificant. Had I stayed in my previous position in the private sector I would have had a much nicer one.
I won't go in to my health care benefits other than to tell you my wife and I both work. I am covered under her family benefits. In normal cases I could have secondary coverage through my employer. In my case I can not. Therefore I pay zero, they pay zero, and there are no health benefits tied to my employment. If she lost her job they would become available to me and I would pay more premium (as a percent of premium and and absolute amount) then I did in my previous 2 positions in the private sector.
I've always said if the task isn't necessary (or desired or affordable) get rid of it and the employee. That is a problem with the government. That also involves logic and strategy.
You come accros as petty, small, vindictive, and jealous. When I say you project and need to look inward I'm referencing things like you accusing folks of gloating. I've never gloated about my job. To me it isn't much different than any other position I've held or will hold and I don't find it anything to gloat about. Yes I'm proud of what I do and happy/lucky to have a job. By viewing anything I've said as gloating I'd suggest shows your jealousy. And trust me there is nothing to be jealous about. I truly mean that. I am likely to return to my previous path in the private sector before too long for quite a few reasons I won't include here.
Meh. Take it or leave it but its hard to take you all that seriously I'll never change your mind because that's not possible and you have no interest in it.
I wish you well and pray for many lucrative contracts for you, governmental or otherwise. It's unfortunate you can not say the same. Maybe some day a light will click on.
