PHILADELPHIA - July 31, 2013 (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper has been fined after video surfaced of him spouting a racial slur during a concert at Lincoln Financial Field.

"I am extremely embarrassed, extremely hurt, and extremely sorry for my actions. I wanted to come up and tell you guys that," Cooper said to the press Wednesday evening.

A visibly agitated Cooper can be heard saying, "I will jump that fence and fight every [n-word] in here, bro."

At one point, Cooper is being restrained.

"There was a confrontation and I handled it extremely, extremely poorly," Cooper said.

Cooper said the confrontation was with a security guard and he was drinking, but would not go into further detail.

"I was drinking, but that is no excuse for what I said and what I did," Cooper said.

At the same time Cooper was holding his press conference, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurey issued the following statement:

"We are shocked and appalled by Riley Cooper's words. This sort of behavior or attitude from anyone has no role in a civil society. He has accepted responsibility for his words and his actions. He has been fined for this incident."

"I'm willing to accept any consequences. I'm extremely sorry," Cooper told reporters.

Cooper said he had spoken with Lurey, general manager Howie Roseman, and coach Chip Kelly about the incident and will speak to his teammates later tonight.

Cooper said Kelly told him "to go out and face this."

The wide receiver told reporters he does not use those words and the rest of the Eagles know what kind of man he is.

"I wasn't raised that way. I got a great mom and dad at home. They are extremely, extremely disappointed at me," Cooper said.

An hour earlier, Cooper issued the following statement via e-mail and on Twitter:

"I am so ashamed and disgusted with myself. I want to apologize. I have been offensive. I have apologized to my coach, to Jeffrey Lurie, to Howie Roseman and to my teammates. I owe an apology to the fans and to this community. I am so ashamed, but there are no excuses. What I did was wrong and I will accept the consequences."

Cooper was a 5th round draft choice of the Eagles in 2010.

With fellow Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is out for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee, Cooper is expected to compete for a starting position.

Oh my gosh, he used a word that offends folks. Grow the he11 up, America. This entire nation has turned into a bunch of whining little pukes that freak out over words. I can almost guarantee you that if a black player had said ""I will jump that fence and fight every crazy arse cracker in here, bro.", we'd never even here about it.

I was going to write something here then I realized it should probably be in the political section of these boards. I couldn't write something without it being a controversial sentence.

I thought regardless of your color, you had to be a racist or own a crumbling building in order to live in Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Eagles have excused Riley Cooper from all team activities after the wide receiver was caught on video making a racial slur.

The Eagles and Cooper announced the decision Friday. Cooper apologized profusely Wednesday after a video of him using the N-word at a Kenny Chesney concert last month surfaced on the Internet. The Eagles immediately fined him.

Cooper says the last few days have been incredibly difficult and he will step away to seek counseling.

Cooper says he knows "there are people who will have a tough time forgiving me for what I've done. The best thing for me, and for the team, is to step away for a period of time."

The Eagles did not set a timetable for Cooper's return.

Film at 11..... 😟

Marcus Vick, the brother of Eagle's quarterback, Michael Vick has put out a bounty on Riley Cooper's head.

Hey I'm putting a bounty on Riley's head. 1k to the first Free Safety or Strong safety that light his ass up! Wake him up please.....

Why hasn't this POS been prosecuted? He's offered payment (solicitation) to someone to commit an assault. Isn't that a freak'n crime? I guess it's OK now to put out a bounty on someone, as long as you're black, and you're putting it out on someone of a different race.

BTW, the dog killer denounced his brother, and defended Riley Cooper.

Nah he only needed a pound or two. That would have been way too much.

As for Mr. Cooper, while we have gone way overboard on the PC stuff, it is what it is and how stupid do you have to be not to understand it. And just because I disagree with the pc crap I'm not about to hold this douche bag up as some sort of poster boy for how unfair this cruel world is. He is an idiot. Watch the vid. Dumb ass. I don't feel sorry for him a bit.

Dumb ass cracka is what he is and y'all are a bunch of saltine lovin crusty ol blowhards.

The end.

Question:

Does anyone refer to the Japanese as "nips" anymore?

No?

Why not?

Because the entire country stopped using the word.

My teenage kids NEVER heard that term used like that.

So why does the "N" word still linger in America 2013?

Answer: it ain't the stupid white folks.

I have NO sympathy for anyone who is even mildly offended by this.

You want the word to go the way of the horse and buggy? Then tell those who use it freely to stop.

And we know who that is.

We're just too pussified to say it out loud.
