Yeah, your help was very positive and productive, as is the name calling. I guess when your intellect is strained, you've got to go with what abilities you have! 👍
Smart azz comment? No, fact. I didn't say posting here would have "no effect" on the price. I said the value of insight and information to noobs would be more than worth a slight increase in the price of one cigar. If the price doubled for 3-4 weeks, smoke something else until it comes back down (another principle of supply and demand). That would really be acting like a BOTL, not just talking the talk.
Just a thought..... when orders for a product outstrip supply, the price usually goes up. However, when there's no monopoly on the product, and people start buying more of a competing product because it comparable but cheaper, the price corrects itself quickly because sales plummet. If Odyssey's go up 100% for three weeks, everyone buys something else. Now they have too many Odysseys - and end up running a sale to relieve themselves of excess product. Funny how that works....
The other forums I'm on are car forums, not ciagr forums (just for azzhole clarification). They're competitive, but friendly and helpful. They don't discourage new members from posting by reminding them they're "new" with their replies (as in "your opinion has no value"), or keeping info secret to save themselves a few dollars or have a better chance at a trophy at a car show. This is where I came for advice and info on vitolas that have come out since I last smoked cigars seriously 20 years ago. For some insane reason, I thought this forum was like the car forums I'm on. But hey, I'm a big boy wearing my own pants (Daddy of six - two, my own) and can admit when I made a wrong assumption.
A lot of the "vets" on this site aren't BOTL's. If they were, they'd be helping others with info as asked, not keeping silent and tightening the rubberbands on their wallets. Oh I have no doubt you're fairly generous - between yourselves.
Sometimes coming in here is like watching CSPAN coverage of Washington.... The old guard runs the show, there's a lot of posturing, bickering, name calling, and pandering of the cronies, but in the end, nothing positive or different comes out of it.
It's amazing you guys can share input on "what a good bourbon is". Aren't you afraid that'll drive up the prices?:-k
