Elmer T Lee

Would have never picked a bottle of this stuff up of it wasn't for this thread. Damn good for $32 bucks a bottle. Might go pick up couple more bottles.

You better grab them before they're gone.......Elmer passed so it's questionable as to whether this will be available in the future.

Is Elmer aged 8 yrs? If so then wouldn't there be at least 8 more years worth of barrels to sell?

Man I wish I could explain this better. Most whiskey starts out from one distiller as all the same.Barrells are picked for certain blends or in Elmer's case single barrells to be bottled. There can be quite a difference between barrells stored in certain areas of a rickhouse. No one has Elmer's palette so it will change if not go away altogether. That being said I can taste similarities among all the Buffalo Trace bourbons but Elmer has always got the nod out of this particular distillery.I suppose my best example would be Heaven Hill Distillery.......I can taste some of the same things in all their bourbons but IMO Elijah Craig represents the best of the best in the affordable selection.Parker's Heritage however is my favorite........again I find some of the qualities that I love in Elijah Craig but the smoothness and complexity of this bourbon is far superior...........$80 compared to $30.I would also say that their Evan Williams line is a great bourbon but not as good as Elijah Craig but at half the price it's a helluva bargain.Again it all started out the same....same mash bill and barrells. The final selection is what makes all the difference.

my unit had a formal tonight.

mcclelland islay - wanted to take some cheal stuff in a flask. this fit the bill

army style grog - ingredients included jim beam, jack, sand from the 'stan, tequila, champagne, pinot noir, vodka, jameson, passion fruit juice disguised as hydrolic fuel, and a whole buncha other stuff i didnt catch. surprisingly not bad

home now drinkin some jefferson reserve. now i remember why i didnt buy again. not bad, but theres others i prefer at the price point. but i can see why ron loves it. its consistant with what he prefers.

or maybe tonight my palate is fugged cuz of the grog
