After reading this thread, i see how lucky i am. Broke my foot in seven places is a motorcycle accident.

Agree. Pain is a relative thing, not everyone has the same level of pain for a given event. It's also easier if you know the cause is not doing additional damage, back spasms and nerve pain come to mind.

Pain is tied to your emotional state. You mind set as well. Sometimes you, 'gotta do what ya gotta do' regardless of the pain. I remember hearing a news report about an 80 year old guy cutting wood about 40 miles from town. He had a chain saw accident that cut open his throat and cut the muscles and tendons in his neck. He drove himself the 40 miles to a hospital breathing through hole in his neck while holding up his head with one hand to drive.

I have so many it's ridiculous. I'll pick the one that stands out though. My first wisdom tooth was horrible before getting it out but the doc that took it out made it painless. Yeah! Then I go to get the other three out and I swear this moth$&@))"& son of a $@@@&" bag $@@"$ head $@@&$" up something big. I thought he was cracking my jawbone, the teeth were coming out all weird. The biggest issue was I knew this can be done better because of the first one taken out. I was screaming but nothing came out cause my throat was so dry. And then the worst the €£*>€£><>£££+£>>^+£€€!!<%£ drops a piece of tooth in the back of my throat. I honestly thought I was going to die. I thought somehow this guy was messing with me. Then, I go to figure out later if this idiot is real or what. He was like the town idle. Best doc in the world. This just makes it worse cause I know I drew the "everyone is entitled to a bad day" card. F'ing BS is what it was.

Too many to list or pick.

But one weird one.

A few years back, I'm asleep in my motorhome, alone.

I wake up suddenly with a bad, really bad leg cramp in my left hamstring, but on the inside of the leg.

I've had leg cramps before, no big deal

I jump up to stretch it out.....no go......the cramping gets worse and worse by the second.

After 10 to 15 seconds it's so bad I'm screaming, and now my whole body is cramping up.

I'm starting to think I'm having some sort of event.......then I just fell over (passed out, fainted, whatever.)

Woke up in a pool of sweat......don't know how long I was out......maybe a minute or three, or five......

Drank a bunch of water, ate a few aspirins, checked out the lump on my noggin (must have hit something on the way down), and stayed up for an hour or so.....then went to bed.

Why not? A weird one too. I wasn't drunk...I woke up in the middle of the night to piss and fell asleep while going. I twisted my ankle. Had to wear a boot for a couple days and got to use the electric shopping buggy

I've been fortunate, only bones I've broken are small fingers or nose, and neither ever hurt. AC Joint separation surprisingly didn't hurt either, until I had to take my shirt off, but even then it was pretty manageable.

Back pain however, that does cause some interesting, non-stop pain... and the numbness and weakness in the legs is debilitating. Interesting note, I was "dealing" (ignoring) with a ruptured disc at the same time I managed to break my nose. The morphine injection the doc gave me before pushing my nose back to straight did absolutely nothing for the back pain. It just doesn't even touch it.

I'd have to say that when I was in the Army, I had my "wisdon" teeth removed. Got a dry socket on a lower one, and couldn't open my mouth to fit a teaspoon in.

When the Col asked me to "open wide" and I replied "that is as wide as it will go", he grabbed my jaw and opened it up. I almost passed out from the pain... Then he put some kind of wadding in that taste like clove and the pain went away.

Until the next day...

When I returned, he pulled the wadding out in a single motion that left me with my shoulder blades and heals as the only body parts touching the chair.

Then came the realization that he was going to put another one back in...

He did, the antibiotics worked their magic, and in a few days, the pain was gone.

Middle of the night leg cramps are a biatch!! Piss me off every time

Sleep apnea surgery, cut ou my uvula, wallerd out my throat, scraped out my sinuses, fixed my septum.

For 15 days I wanted to kill my doctor.

Woke up during surgery to the worst pain I have ever felt.

In recovery nurses gave me to much of one painkiller that gave me the worst headache I have ever had and wouldn't give me a piss pot or a Popsicles! I about threw my empty cup across the hall at her to get her attention! I had to pee!!!!!

When she finally got the point I had to stop halfway during my pee so she could dump the jug. Filled it up twice.

70oz pizz!

She apologized. I said don't talk to me:) I was extremely mad.

Looking back I should have c

Just did the cpap

For me it was sneezing after open heart surgery. Even holding the protective pad to my chest it still dropped me to the floor a few times. The only things I could take for the pain were perscription drugs or Tylenol. I wanted off the perscription drugs ASAP and the Tylenol did not help much.

Quite a few for me. Had kidney stones a few times. Pain so bad it made you vomit.

Didn't listen to the doc when he told me to go home and lie down after I had a spinal tap. That pain has been described here. Worst part was they wouldn't do anything to fix it. Missed a week of work with blinding pain in my head...that was awful.

The worst though was after old-school gallbladder surgery, they made you do breathing treatments to avoid pneumonia. Nurse asked me if I wanted pain meds before the treatment. I hate how I feel on pain meds so I said no thank you. Took the treatment. I don't know if you're aware of 'old-school' gallbladder surgery, but they had to cut through your diaphraghm muscle....I thought I was going to die it hurt so much! Next time she came in to tell me they were giving me a breathing treatment, I took the meds!

The near-constant pain in my feet now though can get pretty intense but I still think the above was the worst.

HBJ, I woke up during surgery too. Apparently a lot of subconscious stuff can come from that which answered a really odd fantasy I once had. Anyhow, I was nine and with my stomach cut open I jumped up on the table twice fighting, rippin out IVs hitting nurses. Don't remember it.

Two come to mind

Open heart surgery. I could only describe it as being hit in the chest with a sledge hammer.

But equally as painful if not worse.....shoulder surgery. I tore my bicep from my shoulder and also ripped 60% of the labrum. That sucked!!!!!
