Yup. I grew up just a couple or three miles north of Byron. The festival was at the old raceway. Festival was free after the first day when the huge crowds overwhelmed security and fences around the place. Estimates ranged up to 300,000 plus but thats probably high... pun intended. Traffic for miles around on secondary roads was at a standstill due to folks just abandoning cars and walking to the show. I had a beat to snot old Honda 50 minibike that I rode down there and chained to a telephone pole with my high school combination lock. It was the summer between high school graduation and starting college. It was a real eye opener for this south Georgia country boy. I liiiked it... a lot.o:) For me the storms and such just added to the whole experience. If you get to NC or I get back to HI we'll crack a cold one and burn a stogie or three. Macon Ga was a helluva place to be in those years. Thanks for the offer on the vid, but a local friend gave me copies a few years ago.
