Lastly, on the way home stopped at the gas station, and the clip that holds the pump lever was broken...had to hold the pump for all 17 gallons.

These clips are illegal in NY and I have to hold the pump for every gallon I put in my car. Man up!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny enough, when I fill up my boat, there is a clip and 9 times out of 10 it will overflow a bit into the water...brilliant.

Simple solution that I have used for years IF there is no clip.

What law are you referring to. If gas station A has clips and down the road a couple miles, gas station B has no clip, or it's broken, what law is being broken?

I'm thinking a can, unless unopened would be crushed and rendered ineffective. A beer bottle on the other hand would work just fine.
