designated a terror group by every major world power...

and the Palestinian people elected them to be their representative government...

I don't desire for anyone to be killed but the people of Palestine have made their decision and certainly understand the grave consequences that come along with that choice...

I say turn the whole strip into one giant crater... turn it into the face of the moon...

Just what is a terrorist?

Not picking sides, and by no means do I agree with Hamas' methods, but one may want to step back and examine a little history. One may also ask oneself what they would do if one day a group of super powers decided they needed there land to carve out a nation for another group of people and so they were told they had to pack there belongings and move out.

Saw an interview with Nancy P. this last week where she stated Hamas was a humanitarian organization. She was repeating what reps from Qatar had stated.

One would think that a person in her position would have an educated guess as to what is going on.

to be fair she never says they are a humanitarian organization... I guess you can't believe everything you read on cbid...

she says the quatari's have told her they are a humanitarian organization - which, wtf cares what they say?

she doesn't refer to them as a terrorist organization...

PELOSI: "Well, we all -- war is a deadly thing. And I have many Palestinians who live in my district and I am hearing them regularly about how their families are affected who live in the region. It's a terrible thing. But let me just say that any missile that comes from someplace has a return address. And if Israel is responding to that address, then that's a shame that the Palestinians are use -- are rumored to be using children and families as shields for their missiles.

Should we all try to, first of all, avoid conflict, the Hamas initiated this. So again, this has to be something where we try to have the two-state solution, that we have to support -- we have to support Abbas and his role as a leader there. We have to support Iron Dome to protect the Israelis from the missiles. We have to support the Palestinians and what they need. And we have to confer with the Qataris, who have told me over and over again that Hamas is a humanitarian organization, maybe they could use their influence to - "

History also doesn't support the concept that if you are at war, all out war civilians are off limits. That is a very recent and short lived development.

It existed for a short while around ww1 and was scrapped during ww2 (London, dresdon, Hiroshima).

The thought of civilized war is stupid. And it allows folks like Hamas to hide stuff among civilians, get their people killed and leverage that. Their people are willing accomplices.

Either you are at war or you are not.

And pelosi sucks butt. I'll never defend her. Just couldn't see even her calling them a humanitarian org. If someone is going to throw that sort of thing out there I'd like to see their source. Not enough to put any energy in to it ( since I didn't believe it). A person could get pretty bogged down researching the misinformation in here. I'd rather just ask folks to support their own claims and if the choose not to I discount it and move on.

I will admit when I am wrong. Not on purpose, but I did mistakenly mislead on Nancy P.’s words.

One can read the transcript and get one take on the message and another can view the video of the interview and get somewhat of a different take. Verbiage is the same but in the video it takes on a different tone or flavor. Came across almost as we need to believe this.

If she was not trying to take people down this path or sale this idea, then WTF did she even mention it? She damn sure did not challenge the idea.

Go back an re-read my original post Joel. I never said I agreed with their tactics. Nor have I ever given any indication in these forums as to what if any side, if any, I've taken in this conflict. In all fairness I will disclose that I served 4 years active duty in the USCG from 1984 until 1988. I also served in the Louisiana Army National Guard from 1988 until 1990.

War is what the combatants make it. It's never fair and least of all pleasant. Gone are the days of trench lines far removed from civilian populations.

As far as where one hides munitions, some call it cowardly to stockpile them in civilian locations. It serves a dual role. First the bomber comes across as barbaric for killing civilians who may very well be innocent bystanders and it may prevent material losses due to the reluctance of bombing said places.

You should read The Art of War, by Sun Tzu. It's required reading for military commanders including those in the US armed forces. See what it says about varying one's tactics in warfare.

In this instance, those that oppose Israel have never resigned themselves to a submissive role. This is a conflict that will have no end.

Have you sided with Israel and if so why?

Until someone in power realizes this reporters are going to keep on dictating how this war is fought. Hamas pays families so that they can hide weapons in their homes. Israel always announces when and where they are going to attack so the civilians can get out but Hamas soldiers force these people back into their homes. They want dead children they can hold up in front of a camera. They routinely fake wounded people who were supposedly hurt by Israeli soldiers.

There are a TON of these video's on Youtube. There was one I saw where Hamas told all the foreign press to show up at a certain place at a certain time. There was an ambulance waiting and about 2 miles down the road an Israeli checkpoint. They filmed kids supposedly throwing rocks at this outpost (any kid that can throw a rock 2 miles I want him signed to the Phillies!) then some random guy in the crowd fell down, they all picked him up and rushed him to the instantly appearing ambulance. The press there KNEW it was all fake and they all filmed it as if it was real anyway with reporters filming themselves giving their take on what is happening over there etc. What they didn't know was one guy who showed up with a camera was there to film all the other people with camera's and not the fake story. They need to stop calling the occupied territories "occupied territories" and just start calling them Israel. If Israel flattens a few neighborhoods where rocket attacks are coming from, people aren't going to be so willing to let Hamas hide weapons, etc in their homes.

Point taken.

This is a conflict with no real resolution. Neither side is willing to concede an inch and is prepared to fight to the bitter end. What started as a conflict regarding a parcel of land has become a rallying point to end all forms of perceived Western imperialism. Keep in mind that the modern state of Israel was carved out by Westeners from lands once home to hundreds of thousands of Arabs.
