The balvenie 12 year doublewood.

I was gifted a set of samplers of this from Madspackler. I cannot get it in my area and had originally found a bottle of it on the top of a mountain near Riverside California. My wife and I had just sumited the mountain and we were hanging our feet over the side and as I looked down a cliff on a side we had not climbed I though I saw something. I repelled down to a ledge and there was the bottle with about 2 swigs left and a note that said it was a reward for whomever climbed that face. I liked it so I put the word out that year. It has been about 6 years and I had mentioned it a few weeks back and madspackler saw the story and sent me a sampler. It had the doublewood 12 year, doublewood 17 year and caribbean cask. I like the 12 year doublewood personally.

I will definately have a full sized bottle mailed to me in the future. 🇨🇮

Well, my baby, she don't want me around
She said she's tired of watchin' me fall down
She wants a good life, An' all the best
But I like that bottle better than the rest

And she said:
"I think that you're headed for a whole lot of trouble,"
"Well, I think that you're headed for a whole lot of trouble"
"Well, I think that you're headed for a whole lot of trouble"
"If you take your whiskey"

Ow!

Well, that liquor in the night time leaves strange memories
Seems a lifetime, since yesterday
Come the daybreak, and come tomorrow
That woman's waited up all night for me again

Oh! She said:
"Well, I think that you're headed for a whole lotta trouble." Yeah!
"I think that you're headed for a whole lotta trouble." Oh, yeah!
"Yeah ya know that you're headed for a lotta trouble"
"If you take your whiskey home"

Some goes to women, ooh, some goes to Jesus
That I'm absolutely certain both's all right
Yeah, but it takes me at least halfway to the label
'Fore I can even make it through the night

Uh well, I think that you're headed for a whole lotta trouble
Yeah yeah, I think that you're headed for a whole lotta trouble
Baby, yeah, I think that you're headed for some trouble
If you take your whiskey home

sounds great.
Another west coast bourbon that gets great reviews is from St George, I'm thinking it's Breaking and Entering but not positive. IIRC, they buy and then blend, and it is suppose to be pricey but worth it.

I went looking around for this St. George Breaking and Entering. Apparently they stopped bottling it for the time being in Sep 2014. The website shows no St. George stuff is distributed to Bloomington. Going to try some places in indy and see if I can find a bottle.

http://ooladistillery.com/home  I'm skeptical of micro-distillery whiskey's with no age labeling, but this stuff was way better than I had any expectations of. Smooth and comparable to some more aged Bourbons, about $39.

Bah OOLA doesn't distribute to Indiana. Illinois though!

me too, Elmer from Namadio (apparently there will be part deux but we'll let Nick tell that story)...or maybe it was the bottle from Shaun that arrived on the same day with some of the best smokes anyone has ever been sent.

After many moons without my beloved Elmer, I now own twins!

Thanks Nick and Shaun, weather permitting you will both be thanked properly this week, as promised.
