I am all over the board so it's nice to hear you like some of the same stuff. I am obsessive about collecting vinyl and am eclectic on my music choices. I like blues, punk rock, honey tonk country, folk, metal, soul, lounge, doowop and jazz. Depends on the mood. Though i have tried, i can not appreciate hip hop or anything top 40.

Listening to James Brown album on reel to reel....gettin' down to it.

Used to have close to 4,000 albums back in the day when I worked in the record retail business. Like you I'm all over the place but never got into classical music.

Reel-to-reel? Wow, cool!

For tonight's listening pleasure:

I have to admit i have not gotten into classical either.

I have cut way back on my records.......at a time I had 90,0000. I got most of these at a storage warehouse auction 20 years ago in one fell swoop for $1200. This was before storage wars. At this price i got introduced to music i never heard before and sold enough to keep a bunch and still make a profit. I once had a vacant house filled floor to ceiling but sold off most of it when the expressway came to nuke the house.

I still have about 20,000 and I still cant find anything when i want. People come over and make requests. Just because i have it does not mean i can find it!. Am i done? I still buy when I see something potentially interesting. This obsessive trait of mine worries me as I have ramped up my casual interest in cigars lately and found this site. Oh no!!!!!

I'm still in a reel to reel mood. I am playing live at folsom prison on the akai right now. These particular reels I have are cool because they are not self recorded but studio issues with the album artwork on the boxes.

^^^ Dayum! ^^^

Can't fathom 90K albums and can understand not being able to find anything, even with the much lower amount. Alphabetizing your collection would take at least a week - and that's doing it full-time with only a couple of short breaks and a meal...or meals if you're gonna work 12+ hours on it.

took me 4 hours a week for a year just to look at each record for a few seconds and decide to keep or sell. Rapid assessment process. Didn't take much to say " looks interesting to try I'll keep.....even weird things like "space age bachelor pad" or bands like moxy fruvus.

Quite the collection ^^^

I'm listening to the start of a wonderful symphony that plays for months on end, with subtle differences year to year.

The sounds of millions of critters in the wild desperately trying to get laid.

I love non-winter months.

It's been a long long time since I've been able to sit out on my deck past 8pm without freezing. Carhartt jacket, knit hat, and I'm good here. 56F at 930pm. I'll take it!

Brings back memories media class in college in the 70s.......and taking ektacrome slides of the woodstock festival, putting them on 3 slide projectors and synchronizing to CSNY "Woodstock" from that album. Got an A even though the assignment was something completely different.

I almost cut my hair.

Some people liked that album only because it was a convenient potable hard surface for consumption of illegal substances.

Carry On and ACMH were my favorites when it first came out but as the years rolled by (...convenient hard surface aside...), 4+20 became one of my all-time favorites.
