I don't think anyone is gonna try to force you to vote for anyone you don't want to... If you see black panthers with baseball bats just go somewhere else... but the voting for a third party candidate, in this election and the last anyway, is pretty much not voting... maybe next election there will be an option people take seriously but not today... 😟

There has never been a third party that has threatened a victory. The vaunted Bull Moose party was about as close as it gets and it only got like 30% of the popular vote. So we got the great racist and socialist Wilson.

If there is a 3rd party split, the Dems will mostly go democrat as they goose step. The republican party will be the one that fractures and then the Dems will turn the country into Europe and move us further from the moorings of the Constitution.

3rd party is for losers.

You mean Drumpf not Trump, right? Yes, I really liked John Oliver's segment on Trump. Very enlightening.

Candidate a b c are the ones that don't share my values. Charlatans and carnival barkers. So yes I disagree with your premise.

And no, Reagan would not get out of the primaries today. He compromised and would be considered a RINO if he ran today. Cruz is the farthest thing from Reagan.

I said long ago the only thing that could make me vote democrat is if the republicans ran Cruz trump or Satan. I've softened on trump and would merely not vote for him. Cruz and satan are still on the short list.

It's the worse of two evils to me. The only ones more evil than Hillary are Cruz and satan.

So you can tell me Cruz is something I think he's not in order to base your premise in that but it doesn't describe my values or political stance. If it makes you feel better so be it.

I think you underestimate Hillary. I think she might be the mother of Satan . You're right on Cruz . He give off the cult leader vibe so I understand why some weak minded people so rabidly support him . Your wrong about Reagan getting nominated today . He could if he ran as a Democrat . He's that far to left of this republican party .

I can understand your views on not voting for a cantidate that you believe doesn't have integrity. Hilary has the same problem .

are you speaking on values or personal characteristics?

personal liberties and freedoms coupled with small government seem to be the calling card of the repubs [for the most part]...those are the values i am talking about, not personal characteristics or shortcomings in the candidates themselves

hilary is everything that is wrong with politics
she has been a charlatan and a liar from the get go and it continues today
there is no candidate more elitist than her and yes i am including donald trump
throwing mud while buddying up with someone like that destroys your premise

He fired all the air traffic controllers that went on strike.
What politician would have the stones to do that now?
He shut the government down 8 times.

The Repub party has veered left since Reagan and the Democratic party has lurched so far left since then, that JFK would never have seen the light of day in this democrat party today.

Reagan would mop up the nomination today and run away with the election against Chairman Hil.

teddyballgame wrote:

Just because you say that doesn't make it true. We have Reagan's platform, it's documented. Saying he would take the teaparty's platform is conjecture and fantasy that fits your rationalization (and flawed at that). His actual platform is fact and would not fly today. Parts of it would for sure, and you can cherry pick them, but others would not. His immigration position alone would disqualify him (Cruz would tear him a new bunghole).

Lets not forget Reagan was about inclusion and compromise not obstruction and exclusion. He did not vilify the opposition and actually liked them and got along with them even though they differed politically and intellectually. His rule of thumb was if he could get 70% of what he wanted he could negotiate/compromise the 30% away. It is the approach of a shrewd negotiation team who recognizes w-l isn't sustainable and w-w is the goal. The no compromise (zero) crowd from which Cruz panders are not remotely in the Reagan mold. In that one sense (and only that one) Trump is more like Reagan than Cruz by a long shot. I really don't see Cruz as remotely resembling Ronnie other than he proclaims it and his cult members repeat it. Not many outside of that niche see it.

Gummy we just disagree. Cruz does not represent me or my values unless I accept how you define him (and how he wants you to define him) which I do not. You can try to find comfort in some gyration of your definition of him but I've made up my mind on him years ago.

Hillary does not represent me or my values either and I have no desire to vote for her. I would vote for her over Satan or Cruz. That's about it. In fairness I would vote for Cruz over Satan but I'm not sure there is a huge gap. In my opinion, he is a dangerous person and I'm sorry more can't see it. You have a different view. It's cool. I think he is a false prophet. I truly believe given time folks will be embarrassed they ever supported him. I suspect an unraveling of the facade at some point. In fairness again that may be true of several of these folks. I'd sure be embarrassed had I ever held Palin up as a great conservative intellectual. Rubio was a teaparty darling now he is the establishments last great hope and is hated by the teaparty. They turned on him and I beleive they would have on Ronnie as well. These fads fade quickly, and we live in different times. Ronnie in todays world is a fantasy. I don't think he could/would exist.

By the way.... unrelated to all this... did anyone see the show on AHC about Ronnie and the blacklist/cia stuff? Fascinating.
