Poll Question: Is Global Warming Real?

My point isn't the 'profit'. Scientists are funded, as you know, which is how they pay for their work. One would like to think that scientists would be scientific and report results, not manipulate them. In the video, Lindzen is purporting that both sides of climate scientists agree on many points, and disagree on a few. It's the last group saying the sky is falling.

But in the end, I guess it comes down to who you choose to believe. You guys believe one side, I believe the other.

And you have every right to believe anything you might like.

But I think you might consider the long list of people, organizations and governments that you disbelieve. I mean, you know the Pentagon has weighed in on this right?

Well... last year there was a large area of warm water right off the coast of SoCal that made the fishing incredible.

I'm hoping this year is as good or better. Hey... if the planet is being ruined... I may as well benefit from good fishing, amiright?

I like to watch "Planet Earth" on BBC America. Just heard that in the last 50 years, we've cleared almost 50% of the rain forests in the world.

I think this fact, coupled with the population growth, is more damaging to our environment. Trees use CO2 to make oxygen... I think removing our means to lower the CO2 levels as fast as we are is hurting us more than the emissions.

Volcanoes have erupted in the past and put more CO2 in the air than we ever have... yet when we had plenty of trees to use it, we went on 'bidness as usual', eventually.

As I said, our emissions are not helping, but I think cutting down all the trees may be hurting us even more. Put them together... and here we are.

The deforestation of rain forests is a problem. So is global warming. The question for me is what will be the long term results. There are many scientific studies that preach gloom and doom, but there are also studies that speak about change, but not gloom and doom. I remember when scientific studies predicted something similar to an atomic winter due to the oil well fires in Kuwait. That did not happen. So does the answer lie somewhere in between?
