the fillibuster rule is in place to prevent a slight majority from running roughshod over a minority.

Homebrew is right, if the option is taken away for a few appointments, it will bite the republicans ass when the democrats are the majority party.

The Democrats are obstructionists(sp). And the filibuster rules have been changed 7 times in history. Never have federal judges that have made it through the Judiciary Subcommittee ever been filibustered. NEVER-NEVER!!!!

You Dems that claim this is the norm are WRONG. The only filibuster that has been done, was done to a Judge who was already in the supreme court. It was bi-partision filibuster, and was to keep him from being the supreme court justice. Never has ANY of this happened before. So quit with the bullsh*t claims.

Like I said before, it IS legal or it wouldnt even be an option. Quit being crybabies and RESPECT the rules of the senate, whether you like them or not!

If you want rule changes that suit your beliefs, vote those senetors in. Get the majority in the senate if you can. Then change it back to what you want. That's the right of the majority.

What's funny is that the minority expects the president to back off from the promises to his party that got him elected. YOU ARE DREAMING.

When a platform for re-election is set and the candidate wins, what do you expect? Promises were made to the party to be re-elected. Those promises MUST be kept! Quit your freakin' whining.

PS: Dont count on taking back the house and senate without a miracle. you may someday get the Whitehouse back, but dont count on the senate or house to be Democratic dominated for many, many years if ever...

rick, The only reason the Dem never changed the rules about this when they were in the majority is that the republicans have never filibustered a judicial nonination. Remember Watergate? Agnew was gone, Nixon appoints Ford as V.P. the senate Dems try to block him long enough for the house to impeach so the senate can convict with no V.P. So the Democrat speaker of the house can take over as president? Yet they still talk about Nixon like he was evil becouse he was impeached. But Clinton was only impeached becouse the republic house was evil? That Should be thier slogan for '08 and Hillary "Vote democrat, the party of situational ethics" They might not win(agian) but they'd be honest for a change. nice posts tranny & krubs!

i like that phrase.
"Vote democrat, the party of situational ethics"

what i don't understand is why hillary is being considered as presidential material. she has already established herself as an opportunist, she is now becoming a centrist, a person with no social skills, she ate at a diner like the common folk but didn't leave a tip, and obviously a bad sex partner, or bill might have stayed at home more.

"get me her credentials." (music man, 1963)

Thanks maven, should i send thephrase on to Howard Dean @ the DNC? You're right about Hillary! Hard to find anyone that is more statesman then oportunist, on either side of the Isle. The Dems have Lieberman and Dayton(he's a loon but is calls it as he see it) and the republicans have......
