Inspired by TTom's earlier post:

The Beatles - White Album

As contentious as it was between the members during the recording of these songs, I think this is one of, if not THE best Beatles album. YMMV.

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On

Another all-time classic and on my Deserted Island list

If Marvin were still alive, wonder what he'd be singing about today....

Psychedelic Furs - Talk, Talk, Talk

Love it! Big fan of pre-second British invasion....English Beat, Specials, Furs, OMD, Squeeze, Echo and the Bunnymen, Soft Cell....Cure might even be lumped in there...though evolution or longetivity puts them more solidly in other categorizations

I hate that Furs are so strongly associated with Ringwald...but, then again, her movie brought them more attention than they were ever going to get on their own

I think that these bands would be classified as new wave not second wave.

Any who, I'm listening to a good mix of old (Doors - The Soft Parade) and new music (Sublime).

Black Crows - Shake Your Money Maker....Chris Robinson might have claimed to have disliked the Stones, but I hear Wyman, Watts, or Richard in nearly every song

I don't disagree with that...I just hate when they get lumped in with Duran Duran, Seagulls, Culture Club, etc....I tend to make my own distinctions that may be an alternate reality, but serve to enhance my (correct) opinions

YES...long made that association. I can even bridge the Allman Brothers too in that mix. Love the Black Crowes...a lot...seen them 5 times and the last time was in such an intimate setting...the House of Blues in Orlando...about 2000 people.

She Gives Good Sunflower

Sister Luck

Twice As Hard

Struttin Blues

On the Allman Brothers side...

Oh Sweet Nuthin'

Blackberry

Come On

By Your Side

I MISS them terribly...hope they can patch it up and make more music. Another band that's taking the sound and pushing it...Blackberry Smoke...they can kick ass too!

I saw them open for Michael Schenker Group a loong time ago. There was only about 200 people at The Tower Theatre when they played. Blew us away! We were standing right in front of the stage..

Had to move back a bit when MSG started....
