You need an ID to initiate that. But not to maintain it. There was a time in my life, many years in fact, when I owned a home, worked, had bank accounts and did not have a "valid" government ID... my old drivers license had expired and I had no reason to get a new one in the state I was living. If that state had required a photo IDto vote it would have been an unnecessary hindrance to me.

My mother-in-law registered her two kids (my wife and brother-in-law) when they became of voting age in the 1980's. For years she would send in three absentee ballots, for herself and her two kids. She was a staunch Rep, as were all her friends at the American Association of University Women. Her friends in the AAUW, at least the 4-5 who played cards with my MIL and had kids, did the same. Eventually, when the kids moved out, she stopped, but the kids had been indoctrinated and are GOP........voter fraud?
