... it's not a 15 year old... it's a middle aged man. I thought we addressed this.

And I'm seeing what the problem is. You're jealous you didn't get dozed by cnn...

so who are we bashing here? CNN? Because they didn't ID some internet bigot troll who is an adult, not a 15 year old, who backed down and deleted his website full of his crap because CNN said they would ID him? Wonder who initiated that agreement? CNN would've outed him from the start, but my guess is that he begged them not to...

pretty sure all parties involved deserve bashing... but a major news network threatening to dox a private citizen because he did something that hurt their feelings, that is the beginning of something much uglier and much more dangerous... think fox news doxing muslims living in the US after the next big terror attack... ugly...

other than that's likely not how it went down. They likely didn't threaten anything. A deal was struck fot the benefit of the bigot presumably and if he doesn't live up to his side of the deal the original situation exists. It's not hard to understand and happens every day. CNN actually is taking it on the chin when they simply could have and could publish. They really didn't gain anything and lost a lot in PR

I don't hear bigot dude asking for the deal to be broken. If it is his concern he could just start posting again or ask CNN to publish

this threat/blackmail narrative is garbage.

... to be fair, if there were a Muslim involved in a news story most places would use their real name.

"We interviewed Mr Frank McMuslim about what it is like living in the USA following last week's terrorist attack."... doesn't seem like an odd thing.

CNN wasn't randomly doxxing internet trolls... they were identifying the one who was claiming to be the originator of a meme the president tweeted. Keep in mind HE claimed responsibility up to the point where the notoriety had a chance of people in the real world finding out what he says online. That's kind of messed up.

not so much. and I'm not spinning anything. I have no love or hate for CNN (can you say the same?). They gained nothing. There have been and still are plenty of memes against them and that wont change. They know that and are pro 1st amendment.

Eventhough I generally do not post anonymously, I do believe anonymous activity should be protected by law providing that the person has done nothing illegal. Some people just don't have the mental and physical strength to defend themselves but they do have the right to free speech no matter how perverse, bigoted, or misogynistic it appears to be. Despite the fact that this person is a known active anti-semite, racist, bigot, et cetera the fact remains that exposing him means that later on they can censor other people for more reasonable things such as their religion, political leanings, or even just plain disagreement over any arbitrary case.

freedom of speech does not mean freedom from repercussions or personal responsibility. treat every email and every post as if the world will know it's you. they just might some day

CNN did the dude a favor...given the evolving hostile and belligerent nature of most anti-bigots (libtards) in the Trump era, as reported by Fox...lots of them are beating the crap outta pro-Trump peeps nowadays...does it seem as if somebody is ginning up a civil war?

that's just dumb if they really thought that. I don't believe that at all. They contacted the dude about the story (routine) and he wanted it killed for his benefit. This other stuff is nonsense. It's a nice spin by CNN haters but doesn't pass the laugh test. It's just not logical.
