Unlike some elitist on this thread:

Four Roses Single Barrel - just the "regular" expression

Nah, Dan, not looking at you...

...or not. 😝

Monkey Shoulder

Meh, doesn't make my value list

I find that really interesting, Shaun. I realize my whisky palate isn’t great, but for me I’d rather buy Monkey than a 12 yo Speyside single malt. Not enough difference to warrant twice the price. What do you recommend I try as a value scotch? Thanks!

Haven't had much luck in the value Scotch department honestly. I have gone through a bottle and a half of JW Rye I picked up on clearance sale for $25 each last year. I guess I find more value in bourbon and rye like Sazerac and four roses small batch or even Evan Williams single barrel.

Give Singleton 12 yo a try. May not be your cup of tea but if not, you have not lost a lot.

Another non-bank breaker is Denston 12. Had it a couple of times at cousin in laws and was impressed for the price point. May be a better choice than the Singleton 12.

I know they don’t have either at my local ABC, but I’ll check out the Mountain Brook location. Thanks for the tips!
