If he was armed, he wouldn't have had to rush the shooter and receive those 3 wounds, now would he? Though an extremely brave act, and one worthy of praise, the teacher is very lucky to have not received a fatal wound while rushing the shooter. If he had, many may have died.

Option 1 - neutralize the shooter with your own firearm.
Option 2 - rush the shooter unarmed while receiving bullet wounds, hoping not to die before stopping him.

I'll personally take option #1.
