experts, former ambassadors and NK intelligence people, say the document signed is basically the one SK President Moon and KJU signed at their meeting in April...only thing we've gained is a commitment by KJU and Trump to continue the dialog and a willingness to establish a peaceful relationship...

who cares if this is like negotiating with a terrorist or welcoming one of the Axis of Evil into the brotherhood...Nixon proved that face-to -face talks with a monster (Mao), as did Carter by meeting with Arafat, that something positive can be gained...if nothing else, a reduction of hostilities that could lead to war...

Over-all, better than nothing...we are all better off than the predicament we were in 8-10 months ago when NK was doing missile tests and Trump was threatening fire and fury...we'll know how "honorable" KJU is in the next few years...

Trump deserves some credit for his part...

Removing troops from the Korean Peninsula, alienating allies with trade wars and insults are part of Trump's agenda of neo-isolationism.

Sure, if the South Koreans don't kick in more money for our 28,000 troops to remain in the Korean Peninsula we'll leave, save 800 million and the North will likey as they did before, move on the South. Our problem? Not in China's opinion probably.

Isolationism leads to world wars. Agreed it sounds good but only on paper.
As horrible as the U.N., NATO and the WTO might be they've kept the peace for 70 years.

Maybe they have modern history audible books Donald can listen to.

when you stop laughing, take a look at these, and compare...

an article that details the agreement signed by SK/Moon and NK/KJU in April 2018...

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/north-south-korea-denuclearization-agreement/

an article that describes what Trump and KJU agreed to on June 12, 2018

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/north-korea-summit-agreement-trump-kim-jong-un-signed-meeting-singapore-today-2018-06-12/

both are largely symbolic and "hope to accomplish"

1) peaceful relations between the nations,
2) de-nuclearization of the peninsula...but no details
3) re-unify families (SK) and remains (US/MIAs)

Your turn...how are they different...

Make no mistake...we are all better off with the two talking and trying to make a deal...the alternative was truly frightening for people in that part of the world...

Correct, but are you going to pay more for a car just to make friends with the dealer?

Hell no. A business deal, a trade deal, a peace deal... all have one thing in common. In order for them to be "good", both sides have to walk away with some sort of "win". That was no win for us.

I am not condoning his methods, but I am happy that we finally have someone willing to say that we are not the world's bank any more. I'd love it if he said... we ain't making "friendship payments" any more. At least not until we're in the black, and even then... it has to be beneficial to US, too.

Pantywaist, so if you have me blocked how'd you know who z was referring to?

Yeah, you're not passive-aggressive. You had to post that in the thread and not pm.

Or maybe you wanted your friend there z to know you "had his back".

Smiling.

Oh damn, you can't read this. ****.
