Correct, but are you going to pay more for a car just to make friends with the dealer?

Hell no. A business deal, a trade deal, a peace deal... all have one thing in common. In order for them to be "good", both sides have to walk away with some sort of "win". That was no win for us.

I am not condoning his methods, but I am happy that we finally have someone willing to say that we are not the world's bank any more. I'd love it if he said... we ain't making "friendship payments" any more. At least not until we're in the black, and even then... it has to be beneficial to US, too.

I do know I am uneasy about tossing over and saying highly insulting things about several countries we know would be on our side if the worst happened, while bestowing heaps of praise on two of the most ruthless dictators.

I also know I am uneasy about what promises from US will mean in the future. I doubt you want to be know as untrustworty either.

and tail, my buddy, let me stop you before you start with group mind reading and source citing as influencing my addled brain. These are values to me, as a proud American. Even if Trump had never existed...yet I am still willing to wait and see.
But I am, so far, uneasy.

I'm a little amused at my con friends...just saw a spot on a LWM channel that showed past clips of the outrage on Fox News over Obama's meeting with the thuggish dictating oppressor of his people Raul Castro, and the chorus of FOX naysayers who were outraged when Obama said he'd be willing to have a dialog with KJU, Assad, the Iranian President and any other leader of a nation despite their terrorist, oppressive backgrounds...

Then they showed the same talking heads fawning over Trump's special place in history and the momentous accomplishment for shaking hands with and starting a dialog with the same murderous Axis of Evil leader who a few years ago wasn't worthy of a meeting with a US President...

Then they had a R congressman on, heaping praise on Trump...the same guy who chewed Obama a new one for meeting with Castro...silly guy twisted himself into a pretzel trying to distinguish the two...

Then there was the post summit interview where Trump basked in the glow of his engagement with KJU and said,"I may stand before you in six months and make some kind of excuse" for why we didn't get anything done...all while news filtered out that he gave in to KJU's request to suspend military drills with SK.........smh

First car I bought (I was 21) I got effed in every way they could have effed me on that deal. I thought it was good until someone showed me it was not. I educated myself, and I have since bought many cars and got a fair deal on each.

To be fair (Victor and Frank) I obviously don't have any more info than you do, and I am perhaps guilty of mixing my thoughts and ideas on "fair trade" deals and us giving money to our allies... for nothing. My apologies for the confusion.

Al, I was totally in favor of normalized relations with Cuba. Still am... and was looking forward to a visit to their many rolling factories. That embargo has helped nobody.
