March 8, 1985 - Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL

Added bonus: neighbors to the left and right cutting their lawns đŸ€Š

Smooth Soul - Baby I'm For Real

Some Time-Life set that my wife bought a few years ago but, afaik, never really listened to the discs. Anyway, I grabbed one of the 5 double-disc volumes and took it out to the garage. As the title implies, it's that era of Soul music circa 60s and 70s that us "old" folks grew up with. Not bad but I already had many of the songs in my collection. Still, a good "harken back to the good ol' days" set.

Smooth Soul - How Sweet It Is

A little more on the sappier side but a few gems every now and then.

75F / 61% RH / 16 mph - brrrrrr, hadda put on my “smoking” jacket and long socks

Smooth Soul - Piece Of My Heart

I’ll be damned, they kinda “fixed” the skip in the Delfonics “La-La Means I Love You”! I know, I know, 98.2% of you don’t give a chit but this, to a music collector like me, is HUGE!

Took down the last of the outside Christmas lights. Tomorrow we tackle the tree and other decorations.

77F / 66% RH / 16 mph - a real nice day, maybe a little cooler than I prefer but works fine

Been relaxing to some old country while I burn down a couple of Rocky Patel's and sipping some wild turkey.

Frankie Tripod referenced this musical genius a couple days ago so it sparked me to find something on Spotify to listen to:

Thelonius Monk with John Coltrane (OJC Remaster)

Two jazz giants. Who could ask for more?

75F / 68% RH / 12 mph - another jacket and socks night

Journey - December 31, 1973 - Winterland, San Francisco, CA

First public performance. Always preferred the pre-Steve Perry lineup.

This guy shared his experience of that night:

Thelonius Monk - Monk in Tokyo

Diggin’ it! Charlie Rouse on sax killed it that night!

69F / 83% RH / 0 mph - really nice day, gave the dog a bath, probably should have washed my car too except I watched the Philly-Chicago game

Made me remember my youth growing up in Phoenix. From a simpler time. He had some pipes.
